Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Class A Driver (Production Assistant 2) at the Riverside Distribution Center. You will drive routes, manage on-time delivery, and support the Adult Rehabilitation Program while promoting safety and quality service.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, supervising a truck helper in therapy-based work, and ensuring courteous donor interactions. Flexible full-time schedule with benefits; emphasis on DOT compliance and safety training.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license (Class A) and clean driving record.
• Able to pass MVR and background check.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily routing directions and stay on route unless directed otherwise.
• Manage time to complete route within the approved schedule.
• Safely load/unload the assigned truck and assist others when needed.
• Train and supervise truck helper within Work Therapy Assignment.
• Handle Bag & Tag procedures as instructed by supervisors.
• Provide courteous customer service and report donor issues to dispatch.
• Comply with DOT regulations and attend driver safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or director.

As our enthusiastic and hardworking CLASS A DRIVER (Production Assistant 2), you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

1. Following daily routing directions and avoid going off route without exception, unless directed by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
2. Managing your time daily to ensure the route is completed within the approved work schedule. Routes are to be 100% completed each day, without exception, unless approved by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
3. Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of assigned truck. Assist in the safe loading or unloading of other trucks as requested.
4. Training, instruct and supervise truck helper in their Work Therapy Assignment (WTA), keeping in mind that helper is in a rehabilitation program and that good personal and professional work habits are taught by example, as well as by instruction.
5. Responsible for Bag & Tag as instructed by Supervisor and procedure.
6. As a representative of The Salvation Army, ensuring that all customers are treated courteously and with good customer service. Immediately report all donor problems and concerns that occur during donation pick-ups to supervisor, through dispatch.
7. Abide by all DOT regulations and state and local laws while maintaining a safe driving record. Attend all driver safety meetings as required.
8. Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, from time to time, by the Transportation Supervisor, Director of Production, or their designated representatives.

Qualifications to be considered for this position:

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license (Class A)
• Must be able to pass an MVR and have a clean driving record.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Strong time management and customer service skills
• Ability to operate electronic equipment used for daily route information
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to lift up to 100lbs
• Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks

Schedule

Work schedules are determined by Management and employee must be flexible to always ensure adequate coverage. Full-time employees may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
