Job summary

Vita Food Products, Inc. is seeking a Production Assistant to enter daily production data into the ERP and provide clerical support to Production Managers, Plant Manager and Accounting. The role is on-site in Chicago, IL, five days a week.

Responsibilities include entering Manufacturing Orders in Great Plains, managing inventory, performing cycle counts, and preparing monthly labor, yields and overhead cost reports. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus; BA preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Bilingual Spanish and English is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected.
• Great Plains experience is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Enter Manufacturing Orders (MOs) into Great Plains to capture inventory transactions.
• Create Work In Process (WIP) and Finished Goods data for production departments.
• Maintain files for raw materials, packaging and finished goods inventory.
• Perform cycle counts and inventory control; reconcile discrepancies.
• Process monthly reports for Labor Analysis, Yields, STD Labor and Overhead Cost.
• Assist in physical inventories, audits and special projects.
• Support training and contribute to food safety programs (BRC/GMP).

Job Summary:

The general purpose of this position is to enter daily production into ERP system and provide clerical support to Production Managers, Plant Manager and Accounting Dept.

Back up: SR. Accountant

• Enter Manufacturing Orders (MOs) into Great Plains in order to capture inventory transactions, create Work In Process (WIP) and Finished Goods for salmon and herring production departments. This consists of tasks within the Great Plains software system:
  • Creating MOs.
  • Scheduling MOs
  • Creating a picklist
  • Closing MOs
• Inventory control and cycle count reconciliation.
• Maintain files for all raw material, packaging and Finished Goods inventory transactions.
• Transfer inventory into and out of various inventory locations.
• Process and distribute monthly reports for Labor Analysis, Yields, STD Labor and Overhead Cost.
• Participate in the completion and reconciliation of Physical Inventories.
• Participate in special projects as requested.
• Participate in production mock traces in conjunction with regulatory audits.
• Assist production trainings.
• Support the Food Safety Plan as outlined in the BRC system.
• Has the authority to take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the BRC system.

Position Requirements:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required.
• Bilingual Spanish and English is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office.
• Microsoft Great Plains experience is a plus.
• Solid understanding of cycle counting, inventory control and bill of material.
• Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with production employees, production managers, plant manager and accounting.
• Ability to operate office equipment, such as copy machines, printers, computers, etc.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to maintain positive professional working relationship with all employees.
• Ability to multi-task and to adapt to rapidly changing assignments.
• BA preferred.
• The position is on site, required 5 days a week. (No Hybrid schedule)
