Job summary

Astronautics Corporation of America seeks a Production Assembler for 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) at our Oak Creek, WI headquarters. You will perform mechanical and circuit card assembly, harnessing, and solder termination per procedures and engineering drawings.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, fine manual dexterity, ability to read drawings, and passing solder training and English comprehension tests; U.S. person status is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Must have fine manual dexterity skills.
  • Able to follow standard written work instructions and comprehend electronic and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Able to successfully pass the Astronautics solder training program.
  • Able to pass English comprehension test (FAA Repair Station requirements).
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined under U.S. export regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies.
  • Hand-solder components onto circuit cards.
  • Perform wire harnessing.
  • Use calipers, torque drivers, torque wrenches, and other hand tools for assembly/disassembly.
  • Operate arbor press and drill press for finishing work and assembly tasks.

Job description

We are seeking an Production Assembler on our 2nd shift! In this role you will be responsible for mechanical assembly, circuit card assembly, and repairs. This role involves various tasks, including mechanical assembly, subassembly, circuit board soldering, harnessing, and solder termination, all performed in accordance with assembly process procedures and engineering drawings.

This is a 2nd shift (3:00 PM-11:30 PM) position. The 2 ndshift position includes a shift premium. Training for all shifts will be held on 1st shift (7:00 AM-3:30 PM).This position is located at our Headquarters in Oak Creek, WI. You will report directly to the Manager of Electronic Assembly and Support.

How You Will Do It:
  • Performs electrical and/or mechanical assembly—Assembles small components.
  • Uses small electrical hand tools and a soldering iron.
  • Hand-solder components onto circuit cards.
  • Performs wire harnessing.
  • Utilize calipers, torque drivers, torque wrenches, and other hand tools to perform assembly or disassembly ofassemblies or sub-assemblies.
  • Utilize the arbor press, drill press, and other pieces of equipment for assembly and finishing work.
  • Follows shop orders, engineering drawings, or production work instructions.
What We Look For:
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Must have fine manual dexterity skills.
  • Able to follow standard written work instructions and comprehend electronic and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Able to successfully pass the Astronautics solder training program.
  • Able to pass English comprehension test (in order to meet requirements of our FAA Repair Station).
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined under U.S. export regulations.
Preferred
  • IPC-610 solder certified or a m inimum of two years of soldering experience.
  • Avionics manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience operating SMT, Selective/Wave Solder, Conformal coating equipment a plus.
