Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Production Assembler in Baltimore, MD for a contract-to-hire role. The position involves assembling cable assemblies, reading blueprints, and applying components with precision in a small, onsite manufacturing setting.

First shift hours are typically 5 am–3 pm Monday–Thursday with overtime Fridays. Pay ranges from $17.50 to $19.00 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options with weekly pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cable assembly and mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient with hand tools including torque wrenches and strap wrenches.
  • Basic math and measurement using US standard measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Certifications in IPC 620 class 2/3 are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble cable assemblies and cover terminated connectors.
  • Torque backshells to customer specifications with torque/strap wrenches.
  • Apply components and securing materials to cables and assemblies.
  • Apply sealants and adhesives around connectors and backshells as required.
  • Label and shrink labels to cables per measurements.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, work orders and spec sheets.
  • Follow workmanship standards and production requirements.
  • Maintain organized workstations and care for tools.
  • Assist with quality inspections and ensure assemblies meet standards.
  • Meet productivity and quality targets.
  • Complete required skills testing and evaluations.

Job description

Job Title: Production Assembler Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Cover terminated connectors of various cable assemblies including D-sub and circular military connectors.
  • Torque circular backshells to customer specifications using torque wrenches and strap wrenches.
  • Apply various components such as Teflon tape, metal tie bands, and securing materials to properly secure cables and assemblies.
  • Apply sealants, adhesives, glues, epoxies, and injectable molding compounds into and around connectors and backshells as required.
  • Wrap and shrink labels to cable assemblies in precise locations according to customer measurement specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, spec sheets, and assembly instructions.
  • Utilize American standard measurements accurately during assembly and inspection processes.
  • Perform work in accordance with workmanship standards, quality procedures, and production requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Assist with quality inspections and ensure assemblies meet customer and company standards.
  • Meet productivity expectations while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
  • Successfully complete required skills testing, quality/workmanship evaluations, and productivity assessments.
Essential Skills
  • Assembly and cable assembly experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency with hand tools including torque wrenches, strap wrenches, cutters, and assembly tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Basic math and measurement skills using American standard measurements.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • J-STD-001, AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC 620 class 2 and 3 certifications are a plus.
  • Previous cable assembly, manufacturing, or related production experience preferred.

First shift hours are Monday through Thursday, 5 am to 3 pm, with Fridays open for overtime.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
