Lumen is seeking an Applied AI Scientist in the United States to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions that address real business challenges across teams. This hands-on role emphasizes production-ready ML, experimentation, and scalable AI systems that improve customer experiences and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate combines expertise in ML, generative AI, software development, and MLOps to translate emerging AI technologies into measurable business value.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of applied AI, ML, data science or related field.
• Experience deploying production AI/ML solutions.
• Proficient in ML, statistics, experimentation, analytics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from concept to production.
• Collaborate with business and product to define objectives and measure impact.
• Build solutions using LLMs, RAG, NLP, predictive analytics and agentic workflows.
• Create evaluation frameworks for quality, accuracy, and performance.
• Partner with Engineering to operationalize AI via MLOps and LLMOps.
• Contribute reusable code, tools, and models across the enterprise.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies and recommend approaches.
• Share knowledge and best practices within the team.
