Job summary

Lumen is seeking an Applied AI Scientist to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions for enterprise use. You will partner with business, product, and engineering teams to prototype, validate, and productionize AI capabilities that improve customer outcomes and operational efficiency.

The role requires hands-on experience with machine learning, LLMs, RAG, NLP, and MLOps, with a track record of delivering production-ready AI systems in cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of applied AI, ML, data science or related field.
• Experience developing and deploying production AI/ML solutions.
• Strong expertise in ML, statistics, modeling, experimentation.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vector DBs and AI frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python and AI/ML toolsets (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, MLflow).
• Experience with cloud platforms and production software environments.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to communicate technical concepts.
• Experience in cross-functional agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from PoC to production.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify use cases and measure impact.
• Build solutions with ML, generative AI, RAG, NLP, predictive analytics.
• Develop evaluation frameworks ensuring quality, accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to operationalize AI using MLOps/LLMOps.
• Contribute reusable code, tools, models, and frameworks.
• Stay current on emerging AI tech and propose innovative approaches.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the team.
