Job summary

Lumen is seeking a highly technical and execution-oriented Applied AI Scientist to design, develop, deploy, and optimize AI-powered solutions that solve meaningful business challenges. In this role, you will partner with business, product, engineering, and technology teams to identify opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions, and deliver production-ready AI capabilities.

Qualifications

3+ years of applied AI, ML, or data science.
Experience deploying production AI/ML solutions.
Strong ML, statistics, experimentation, analytics expertise.
Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, modern AI frameworks.
Proficiency in Python and AI/ML tools.
Experience with cloud platforms and production environments.
Clear communication with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in cross-functional Agile teams.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions from proof of concept to production.
Partner with business and product stakeholders to define objectives and measure impact.
Build solutions using ML, generative AI, RAG, NLP, predictive analytics, and agentic workflows.
Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks for quality and performance.
Collaborate with Engineering to operationalize AI solutions with MLOps/LLOps.
Contribute reusable code, models, and frameworks to accelerate AI adoption.
Stay current on emerging AI technologies and recommend innovative approaches.
Share best practices and contribute to team knowledge.
