Job summary

Actalent seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead product validation and testing efforts in Wood Dale, IL. You will design and execute validation plans, analyze results, and drive corrective actions using DFMEA/PFMEA methods.

This fully onsite role partners with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure robust, cost-effective products. With a 2–5 year background in design, testing and validation, you’ll own projects end-to-end, including creating drawings and BOMs in SolidWorks, and applying

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 2-5 years of product engineering experience focused on design, testing, validation, and product development.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including drawings, assemblies, and BOM creation.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and ability to apply theory to real-world challenges.
• Experience performing and analyzing load testing, cycle testing, FATs, or similar validation activities.
• Experience developing structured test procedures, validation plans, and engineering documentation.
• Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Ability to independently lead engineering projects with minimal oversight.
• Hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and product trials.

Responsibilities

• Execute comprehensive product validation activities, including load testing, cycle testing, FAT, and performance verification.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate durability, reliability, and performance.
• Analyze results, identify failure modes, and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate performance issues and drive engineering solutions based on data and testing outcomes.
• Lead engineering projects from concept to deployment with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure manufacturability and cost targets.
