Job summary

Blooming HR Solutions is seeking a Product Development Engineer in Naperville, IL to support new product development from prototype to production and ensure robust validation, testing, and compliance. You will coordinate testing with agencies and international suppliers while maintaining technical documentation and DFMEAs.

The role involves hands-on lab work, reviewing certifications, and collaboration with Marketing and Sales to certify product information and specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with NPD/NPI and product validation.
• Experience creating testing procedures and working with testing agencies or laboratories.
• Experience reviewing agency reports and product certifications.
• Experience working with international suppliers
• Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and off-tool parts is strongly preferred.
• Comfortable working with electrical components; induction experience is a plus.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, PCB layouts, and assembly documentation.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory/test equipment.
• Experience with DFMEAs, quality documentation, or risk assessment is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and/or Visio preferred.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–25% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain product testing and validation procedures.
• Coordinate agency, safety, compliance, and performance testing.
• Review agency reports, certifications, and testing documentation.
• Work with suppliers, including international manufacturers, on FAI and quality issues.
• Support new product development and introduction from prototype through production.
• Create and maintain DFMEAs, quality tracking documents, test plans, and specs.
• Test prototypes and production samples and troubleshoot issues.
• Manage product changes and coordinate validation or certification updates.
• Research new technologies, materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers.
• Work with laboratories and outside engineering firms.
• Support root-cause analysis, supplier audits, and continuous improvement.
• Create product manuals, specifications, labels, and other technical docs.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to ensure accurate product info.
• Maintain the laboratory, test equipment, tools, and product samples.
