Spectraforce Technologies in San Diego, CA is seeking a Product & Test Development Engineer to support PMIC and highly integrated analog ASIC development, testing, characterization, and production.

The engineer will design test hardware and software, perform device-level characterization, analyze data, troubleshoot failures, and work with Design, Foundry, Yield, Manufacturing, and Marketing teams to improve product yield and test time.

Qualifications

  • Solid grounding in electrical engineering fundamentals, including digital/analog/mixed-signal circuits and power management.
  • Experience with PMIC/power management measurements (line/load regulation, PSRR, transition time, regulator efficiency, jitter, gain, SNDR, phase noise).
  • Strong ASIC/device characterization skills with good system-level understanding.
  • Hands-on experience with bench/test equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, battery simulators, spectrum/logic analyzers).
  • Experience with test board design, debugging, and development; knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and characterization data.
  • Proficiency in Python, VB, Perl or similar scripting languages; strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware/software integration and troubleshoot test systems.
  • Develop characterization plans and support first-silicon debug.

  • Use lab equipment: oscilloscopes, source/power meters, battery emulators, spectrum/logic analyzers.
  • Analyze characterization and production data using statistical tools; investigate failures and drive failure analysis to completion.
  • Support yield improvement and yield variance control; identify test-time reduction opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document technical results.

Role: Product & Test Development Engineer - PMIC

Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite)

Contract: 12 months

Job Summary

Client is looking for a Product & Test Development Engineer to support the development, testing, characterization, and production of Power Management ICs (PMICs) and highly integrated analog ASICs.

The engineer will work primarily in a bench test laboratory, designing and debugging test hardware and software, performing device-level characterization, analyzing test data, investigating failures, and improving product yield and test time. This position will work closely with Design, System, Foundry, Program Management, Yield, Reliability, Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and debug test interface hardware, including load boards and test boards.
  • Develop and debug test software/programs using languages such as Python, VB, or Perl.
  • Perform hardware/software integration and troubleshoot test systems.
  • Develop characterization plans and support first-silicon debug.
  • Perform PMIC device-level characterization and module verification.
  • Conduct measurements involving:
    • Line/load regulation

    • Transition time
    • Power/regulator efficiency

  • Support semiconductor manufacturing and production test activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Work on multiple projects in parallel while meeting quality and schedule requirements.
  • Collaborate with local and remote cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Engineering
    • or a related field
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with Teradyne iFlex/uFlex.
  • Experience with Advantest 93 ATE.
  • Experience with Six Sigma / Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience with semiconductor quality and reliability testing.
  • Knowledge of wafer fabrication fundamentals.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
