Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries, LLC is seeking a Product Technician for its Memphis distribution operations. The role involves repairing case pieces and tables, refinishing surfaces and assists with upholstery repairs within a warehouse setting.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma and about 1 year of furniture repair experience. Strong communication, time management and willingness to learn in-house systems are important.

• 1 year practical furniture repair experience including upholstery, leather repairs and wood refinishing.
• Strong communication and time‑management skills; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor repair on top of surface of case pieces and tables.
• Performs solid color paper/side refinishes.
• Performs small corner damages that require rebuild.
• Has general understanding of spray booth set up and use.
• Performs advance replacement part repairs.
• Communicates maintenance needs of tools, parts and hardware and keeps repair area clean.
• Inspect damaged products and determine if repairs can restore them to like-new condition.
• Collaborate with warehouse personnel on minor touch up techniques during inspection.
• Document and follow through on recurring product damages.
• Notify Guest Response Team and DC Manager of repeated item issues.
• Complete upholstery repair including mechanism replacement.
• Assist other technicians.
• Report situations where repairs cannot be completed.
• Assess damages to determine the most efficient repair approach.
• Identify damage, loss or surplus of goods and materials in the warehouse.
• Demonstrate Company core values in all duties.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• High School Diploma.
• 1 year practical work experience in furniture repair including upholstery, leather repairs and wood refinishing
• Able to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office products and ability to learn in-house computer programs.
• Valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements

• Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus to read reports, view computer screen, etc.
• Must be able to hear and understand speech to interact with others.
• Must be able to speak so that others will be able to understand.
• Will remain in a seated position for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands to include keyboarding, handwriting, office/POS equipment and handheld equipment operation.
• Will remain on one's feet in an upright position and move about on foot.
• Will bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach at or above shoulder level.
• Will lift and carry objects up to50 pounds and more with assistance.
• Will work predominately in a warehouse environment; occasional work at new retail locations under construction. Potential exposure to oil, latex, and spray paint, household chemicals, biological odors and household dusts; moderate office noise.
• Understand and maintain all safe work practices and rules.
• Other duties as assigned, essential or otherwise.
