Job summary

MongoDB is seeking a security engineer to strengthen product security across our databases and services. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to design and implement security controls, perform threat modeling, and lead proactive security initiatives.

The role emphasizes collaboration, pragmatic security solutions, and a strong focus on customer data protection within a diverse security organization. Remote-ready with North American options for location.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in application security, software security, or product security.
• Demonstrated experience in C++ programming, security assessments on low-level codebases, and remediation of memory-related flaws.
• Scripting experience and ability to contribute code back to our environments.
• Comfortable leading threat modeling and acting as a security ambassador to other engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive improvements for parts of the security program (e.g., fuzzing, threat modeling, secrets management, container security).
• Support engineering teams during security issue responses with risk analysis and proofs of concept.
• Advocate for and contribute to complex security projects from inception to completion.
• Drive architecture, patterns, and processes to make security the easiest path across Server Engineering.
• Partner with engineering teams to design and implement security controls across software and systems.
• Research and POC new attacks; perform product security assessments including architecture review and threat modeling.
