Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Product Policy Manager for Product Risk to shape safety assessments for new features. You will work with product, engineering, legal, and policy teams to anticipate potential misuses and craft policies that balance innovation with responsibility.

You will lead risk evaluation frameworks and safety reviews, ensuring rigorous mitigation strategies are in place for upcoming launches and ongoing risk management across products.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background and ability to explain highly technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Understand safety policies and safety considerations across a wide range of product surfaces.
• Able to prioritize where and how to focus resources for safety mitigations in a high-volume launch process.
• Experience conducting risk evaluations of novel products in fast-moving organizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain risk assessment frameworks to identify and evaluate potential safety risks for new product features.
• Conduct comprehensive product safety reviews covering technical and non-technical harms to inform launches and mitigations.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, legal, policy and other teams to leverage policy, enforcement, and engineering expertise.
• Analyze potential misuse and unintended consequences of new model capabilities and translate into mitigations.
• Leverage risk assessments to inform product safety recommendations across teams.
• Design and run bespoke evaluations for products requiring tailored assessments.
• Craft policy recommendations balancing innovation with responsible AI deployment.
• Stay current on industry trends and emerging risks in AI development to address potential issues.
• Contribute to regular reports on product policy risks and mitigations for senior leadership.
