Role Overview:

To represent Procurement as an integral part of a campaign, Product, or Project team, leading the resources of the function to optimize its contribution to producing competitive campaigns and delivering profitable projects.

Work with internal stakeholders to ensure Acquisition or Sourcing strategies align with the business needs in the short, medium, and long term.

Collaborate with product development teams to determine work package needs, competitiveness objectives, and target costs. Develop and negotiate a supply chain architecture that meets all product requirements.

Deliver risk-managed Terms and Conditions of contract for all supply chain elements.

During project phases, work closely with stakeholders to manage procurement aspects, ensuring work packages meet technical, program, cost, and performance requirements.

Support activities across different businesses or locations within the UK as needed.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Commercially astute with advanced negotiation skills and experience with various contracting models.
  • Broad procurement skills including Needs Analysis, Design to Cost, Make-Team-Buy, Technical Interface Management, Acquisition Strategy, International Sourcing, Supplier Management, Risk and Opportunity Management, Subcontract Management.
  • Leadership, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for cross-functional and cross-organizational engagement.
  • Negotiation skills in complex systems environments.
  • Analytical skills and well-developed organizational skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in major development or manufacturing subcontract programs/projects.
  • Broad technical and commercial understanding of Thales products and supplied parts/services.
  • Ability to lead Make, Team, Buy decisions.
  • Experience with upstream purchasing techniques like Co-Development, Co-Engineering, Value Engineering, etc.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Supply chain architecture development and implementation.
  • Mid to senior procurement or commercial role experience.
  • Supplier Relationship and Performance Management, negotiation techniques.

Desirable:

  • Experience with procurement tools such as E-ACQ.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively with Engineering and R&T teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems like Oracle (B1) or SAP.
  • Experience presenting to end customers during bid or project phases.
