Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED; vocational degree preferred.
• 1 year of heavy equipment maintenance and 1 year of field service experience preferred.
• 5 years of heavy equipment diagnosis and repair experience required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety, follow job hazard analysis procedures, and maintain clean work areas.
• Perform inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, hydraulics, electrical, and powertrain systems.
• Assist with repairs and testing to verify system operation and reliability.
• Install, service, and repair telematics and electrical components on equipment.
• Maintain accurate service reports and use manuals for issues and repairs.

Electrical, Hydraulics, HVAC, and Cab

Connectors,6/12/24batteryvoltagesystems,andabilitytorepair/replacevariousharnesstypes.

• Independentlyperformsbasichydraulicsystemsmaintenance,includingfluidandfilterreplacement,fullsystemcleanout,

adjustingreliefvalvepressures,andpumpflows.

• TroubleshootsandservicesHVACsystems,includingevacuating,recharging,andreplacingcomponentswhenrequired.
• Basicunderstandingofgeneralmechanical/electricalcabfunctionspertainingtooperatorinterfaces.

Undercarriage

• UndersupervisionofJourneymanorMasterleveltechnicianperformsgeneraltasksintroubleshootingandrepairofvarious

frameandsuspensionsystems,includingtracks,trackpads,drivesprockets,andidlers.

• Identifiesundercarriagecomponentsandperformstracksagmeasurements.

Telematics Installations and Repairs

• Install, repair, and activate telematics systems on equipment to enhance tracking and performance metrics.

DevelopmentPlan(TCDP).

• Utilizesservicemanuals(STW,SIS,andpartsbooks)toaddresstechnicalissuesandperformallrequiredtaskswithin

technicianlevelabilities,inaccordancewithprintedprocedures.

• Developsfamiliaritywithpartsreusabilityguidelines.
• Writesandreadscomplete,factualservicereportsforfilesandwarrantypurposesusingSTWfortimelyworkorderclosing.
• Developsskillsetstoaddressallinquiriesinapromptandfriendlymannertomeetorexceedinternal/externalclient
• Performsotherdutiesasassignedwhiledevelopingamindsetfortechnicianproductivity.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• HighschooldiplomaorGEDrequired, Associatedegreefromanaccreditedvocationalschool preferred.
• Minimum of oneyearofheavyequipmentmaintenanceexperiencerequired;Caterpillarexperiencepreferred.
• Minimum of oneyearofFieldServiceexperiencepreferred.
• Minimum of fiveyears’experienceinheavyequipmentdiagnosisandrepair.
• ValidCDLwithacleandrivingrecordandDOTcompliance.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitively climbing stairs, reaching (including but not limited to above-shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
• Ability to generate 97 ft./lbs. of force, by pushing and pulling.
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 60lbs from the ground and place on a shelf/platform set up to 65 inches off the ground.
• Ability to carry up to 20 lbs. while repeatedly ascend/descend a minimum of ten, 8” stair steps.
• Ability to repeatedly ascend/descend a minimum of 10 rungs on various ladders.
• Ability to assemble/disassemble various sizes of nuts and bolts, while repeatedly bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and/or crouching.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures and environment.
• Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
