Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information systems, business, marketing, analytics, or related field.
• 5+ years in Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Delivery Analyst role with backlog ownership.
• Advanced Jira skills for backlog creation, refinement, prioritization, and dependency tracking.
• Working knowledge of Agile; scaled Agile experience preferred.
• Strong stakeholder facilitation and SDLC collaboration with engineering leadership.

Our client is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the scientific community, recognized globally for advancing the hard sciences. The Product Owner, Marketing Systems & Business Analytics will translate business needs into clear requirements and prioritized backlogs that support measurable marketing and analytics outcomes. This is a full time contract position, hybrid, based in Washington, DC, with a pay range of $46.00–$51.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Translate business needs into detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Lead discovery and requirements workshops to drive clarity, alignment, and documented decisions.
• Own and maintain product backlogs, ensuring items are well-defined, prioritized, and delivery-ready.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define value, confirm outcomes, and manage trade-offs.
• Coordinate delivery planning with agile teams to support sequencing, dependencies, and release readiness.
• Track progress, risks, and blockers and communicate status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
• Support validation of delivered work against acceptance criteria and expected business value.
• Maintain concise documentation and release artifacts to support governance and operational readiness.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in information systems, business, marketing, analytics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Delivery Analyst role with accountability for requirements and backlog ownership.
• Advanced experience using Jira for backlog creation, refinement, prioritization, and dependency tracking.
• Working knowledge of Agile practices; experience in scaled agile environments preferred.
• Strong stakeholder facilitation skills, including workshops, refinement sessions, and planning discussions.
• Strong SDLC understanding and experience partnering directly with engineering and technical leadership.
• Preferred: experience with marketing technology, CRM, marketing automation, and/or data engineering.
• Preferred: relevant certifications such as SAFe POPM, CSPO, PSPO, Agile BA, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or AgilePM.
