Job description

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner with deep domain expertise in Life Insurance to join our team in Maryland, MD. You will be responsible for defining and managing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for life insurance software solutions. This hybrid position requires strong leadership skills, technical acumen, and a thorough understanding of life insurance processes, regulations, and market dynamics. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams including development, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver high‑value solutions.

• Define and communicate product vision and strategy for life insurance solutions
• Develop and prioritize product roadmap based on business goals and market needs
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis in the life insurance domain
• Identify and evaluate new opportunities for product enhancement and innovation
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and pain points

Backlog Management & Agile Leadership:

• Create and maintain product backlog with clear user stories and acceptance criteria
• Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value and customer impact
• Work with development team in sprint planning and estimation
• Lead daily standups and sprint ceremonies
• Manage scope and handle change requests throughout development cycles
• Define functional and non-functional requirements for life insurance features
• Ensure compliance with life insurance regulations and industry standards
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Review and validate product features against requirements
• Conduct product demonstrations to stakeholders and customers

Stakeholder Management & Communication:

• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Present product updates and roadmap to leadership
• Gather feedback from customers and incorporate into product strategy
• Communicate product decisions and rationale to teams
• Document product requirements, specifications, and decisions

Requirements:

• Deep knowledge of life insurance products, processes, and regulations
• Experience with insurance software platforms and systems
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Product Owner Certification (PSPO) or similar
• Experience with life insurance policy administration systems
• Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) in insurance
• Experience with enterprise insurance platforms (Salesforce, Oracle, etc.)
• Background in insurance underwriting or sales
