Job description

Role overview

A community-focused financial institution is hiring a Product Owner to lead its core banking platform and the suite of connected products that support deposits, loans, payments, treasury operations, and digital channels. The role sits at the intersection of business, technology, and vendor partners, translating strategic priorities into a clear roadmap and shipped enhancements. It is well suited to someone who enjoys owning a mission-critical platform end-to-end and partnering across operations, compliance, and engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Own the core banking platform and related ancillary products, acting as the primary subject matter expert and business voice for system direction.
  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, aligning it with business goals, regulatory expectations, and customer needs.
  • Gather, document, and prioritize requirements from stakeholders; turn them into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and a well-groomed backlog.
  • Partner with IT, vendors, and business users to deliver high-quality releases on time, including leading user acceptance testing and managing configuration changes.
  • Serve as the liaison between line-of-business leaders, operations, compliance, and technology, running demonstrations, roadmap reviews, and stakeholder updates.
  • Monitor system performance, oversee vendor SLAs, and ensure all changes meet regulatory, audit, and risk standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, information systems, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in banking operations, technology, or product management.
  • Familiarity with core banking platforms (such as Fiserv, FIS, Jack Henry, Temenos, or Finastra) and ancillary products covering treasury, deposit and loan origination, or digital banking.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail, including advanced Excel capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and communicate them to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience creating and leading presentations for internal audiences and working across cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
  • Working knowledge of Agile delivery and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with dashboard reporting applications.
Benefits and work setup
  • Fully remote position; hiring is limited to specific U.S. states (Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Indiana, Illinois, South Carolina, Florida, and North Carolina).
  • Base salary range of $105,000 to $140,000 annually, with a yearly target bonus tied to individual performance.
  • Comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, employer-paid life insurance, and disability coverage.
  • 401(k) contributions from the employer regardless of employee contribution, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and an employee recognition program.
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays, including paid charity hours for volunteer opportunities.
