Job summary

SHI International Corp. is seeking a Product Owner for its API Platform to define the vision, roadmap, and governance across API Management, Developer Portal, and related capabilities.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, architects, and engineering to deliver scalable, secure API solutions that drive business growth and developer experience. The role reports to the Austin, TX or Somerset, NJ offices or can be hybrid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
• 5+ years in Product Owner/PM/BA roles for software platforms
• Experience with API platforms and developer portals
• Experience translating business requirements into technical outcomes
• Strong Agile and backlog management skills
• Proven ability to define acceptance criteria and user stories
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to translate KPIs into actionable product decisions
• Experience with API governance and security principles
• Travel up to 10% preferred

Responsibilities

• Own vision, roadmap, and backlog for SHI's API Platform (APIM, Developer Portal, governance).
• Translate business needs into prioritized features and user stories with stakeholders and engineering.
• Define investments to improve API adoption, developer experience, and platform scalability.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, acceptance criteria, and release prioritization.
• Establish and measure KPIs for API adoption, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Align business, engineering, security, and operations to deliver roadmap initiatives.
• Be primary decision-maker for product priorities and tradeoffs.
• Communicate roadmap progress and value to leadership and stakeholders

Job Summary

The Product Owner - API Platform is responsible for defining and executing the vision, roadmap, and product strategy for SHI’s API Platform ecosystem, including API Management (APIM), Developer Portal, and API governance capabilities. This role serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to ensure the platform delivers scalable, secure, and high-value API solutions that enable business growth, improve developer experience, and support enterprise digital transformation initiatives.

This position is required to report to the Austin, TX or Somerset, NJ office location or a hybrid basis.

Role Description

• Own the vision, roadmap, and backlog for SHI’s API Platform, API Management (APIM), Developer Portal, and API governance capabilities.
• Partner with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to translate business needs into prioritized product features and user stories.
• Define and prioritize product investments that improve API adoption, developer experience, and platform scalability.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, acceptance criteria definition, and release prioritization activities.
• Establish, monitor, and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) related to platform adoption, API consumption, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Facilitate alignment across business, engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery of product roadmap initiatives.
• Serve as the primary decision-maker for product priorities and tradeoff discussions.
• Communicate roadmap progress, business value, risks, and strategic priorities to leadership and key stakeholders.

Other Requirements

• Completed Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience required
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or in a related product leadership role.
• Experience managing technology platforms, digital products, or enterprise integration solutions.
• Experience working closely with software development teams and technical architects.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience with developer portals, developer experience initiatives, or customer-facing digital platforms.

Preferred

• API Product Owner or API Platform Product Management experience preferred.
• Experience with API Management platforms such as Azure API Management (APIM), Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, or similar technologies preferred.
• Ability to travel 10%

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $90,000 - $135,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
