Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Chicago seeks a Senior Product Owner to lead a cross-functional agile team delivering customer-centric software solutions. Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a Software Product Owner in a software development environment.
  • Experience using the SAFe framework or having a PO/PM SAFe certification.
  • Expert translating high-level requirements into clear user stories with defined acceptance criteria.
  • Document detailed requirements, minutes, action items, and manage requests and communications.
  • Track dependencies, blockers, issues, risks, and assign owners clearly.
  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills; prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; experience with large-scale Agile projects.
  • Hands-on with Jira, Confluence, Release Management tools.
  • Experience building dashboards and filters in Jira.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience in Agile development processes and SDLC phases.

Responsibilities

  • Define, prioritize, and communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, aligned with business goals.
  • Translate requirements into clear user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Act as primary liaison between product management, technology lead, and dev team.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and validate value delivery.
  • Make informed decisions on scope and trade-offs with guidance from tech lead.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews; participate in PI planning.
  • Ensure enough ready stories to load the next 2–3 sprints.
  • Provide guidance to the dev team and resolve queries on requirements.
  • Monitor KPIs and ensure the product delivers value to customers.
  • Participate in retrospectives and drive process improvements.
  • Stay current with industry trends to identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain a positive collaborative environment.

Job Description
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, software developers, designers, quality assurance, and stakeholders to define, prioritize, and communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that it is well-organized, up-to-date, and aligned with the overall product vision and business goals.
  • Translate high-level business requirements into clear and actionable user stories, ensuring that they contain well-defined acceptance criteria and align with technical capabilities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between product management, technology lead and development team, ensuring that communication flows seamlessly and that stakeholder needs are effectively addressed.
  • Regularly engage with product management, stakeholders developers and qa team to gather feedback, capture user insights, and validate that the product is meeting their expectations.
  • With some guidance from technology lead, make informed decisions on scope, backlog priorities, and trade-offs while considering factors such as project timelines, technical constraints, dependencies, risks
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint review sessions, PI planning documentation, jira input, jira cleanliness / completeness, & collaboration with the development team to ensure a clear understanding of the work to be done.
  • Responsible for owning the creation and refinement of stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 2-3 sprints.
  • Provide guidance and support to the development team, clarifying requirements, resolving queries, and ensuring a shared understanding of the user stories.
  • Continuously monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure that the product is delivering the intended value to customers.
  • Actively participate in retrospectives to identify areas for improvement within the development process and take actions to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, leveraging this knowledge to identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, anticipating and addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive collaborative working environment.

Product Owner

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience as a Software Product Owner supporting a software development environment.
  • Experience using the SAFe framework or having a PO/PM SAFe certification
  • Expert with translating high-level business requirements into clear and actionable user stories, ensuring that they contain well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Must have expert ability to document detailed requirements, minutes, action items, manage incoming requests and outgoing communications
  • Expert ability to track, manage and resolve dependencies, blockers, issues, risks, clearly document and articulate action item owners and open items in need of attention
  • Strong organization and facilitation skills, including the ability to prioritize work and drive out deadlines
  • Must work well with internal and external team members, have ability to manage and resolve conflicts collaboratively and with patience
  • Strong analytical skills and drive to take initiative, be proactive to collect details needed to address blockers, drive out issues for the team
  • Detail-oriented self starter with ability to deliver high-quality software products and exceptional user experiences.
  • Advanced experience in JIRA, Confluence, Release Management Tool
  • Experience building dashboards and filtering / lookups in jira
  • Excellent written oral/ communication and presentation skills
  • Hands-on experience with managing large scale agile, technical projects and executive communications
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Experience working in Agile development process, Agile methodologies, and deep understanding of various phases of Software Development Life Cycle
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification(s) related to Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) is a plus.
  • Previous experience in cyber security, specifically vulnerability management or application security testing is advantageous
  • Experience with Jira, .NET and python development is a strong asset.
  • Experience writing detailed technical requirements

Salary Range- $95,000-$120,000 a year
