Job Description

The New York Times Advertising is hiring for a Product Marketing, Editorial Solutions Director. As a member of the Product Marketing, Editorial Solutions team, you will be a link between the Product Marketing team and cross functional partners across the Advertising organization. The Product Marketing, Editorial Solutions team develops newsroom-driven advertising experiences that align brand and marketer needs with the editorial strategy of The New York Times. Partnering with colleagues across Sales, Revenue Operations, Product, Audience Insights, Ad Operations, and the newsroom, the team ensures agreement. The team ensures that our editorial sponsorships and alignment products are clear and drive value for both advertisers and readers.

About the Role

As the Product Marketing, Editorial Solutions Director you will be an important connection between the needs of our advertisers and the editorial strategy of The New York Times. You will collaborate with partners across Revenue Operations, Sales and Product Marketing to develop and scale sponsorship opportunities based on an understanding of advertising demand and newsroom priorities. This collaborative role works across Sales, Marketing, Product, Platforms, Design and the Newsroom to create advertising experiences that match marketer needs and increase advertising revenue. You will oversee a portfolio of editorially aligned sponsorship products, lead teams from scoping through launch, and serve as a necessary strategic partner to senior leaders across the advertising organization. This is a hybrid role, reporting to the Executive Director, Product Marketing, Editorial Solutions. You can typically expect to be in the office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • You will define the requirements of new editorial sponsorship opportunities across our portfolio. These requirements will range from initial pricing and packaging to positioning. You will also collaborate with marketing counterparts on go-to-market strategy and sales enablement materials.
  • Lead the scoping phase for new projects, including market sizing, monetization potential, tech and resource considerations, and overall feasibility across platforms and surfaces.
  • Identify executable, unique products and services that use our journalism, franchise moments and portfolio brands to increase scalable sponsorship revenue.
  • Develop scoping frameworks and repeatable processes that support efficient, scalable development of sponsorship opportunities across tentpole moments and franchise initiatives.
  • Stay current on the external advertising landscape — our competitive set, category trends and latest digital capabilities — with a focus on sponsorship and alignment products.
  • Deliver ongoing strategic expertise and market insight to inform future offerings, product positioning and roadmap priorities for editorially aligned products.
  • Be a primary decision-maker during the pre-sale RFP cycle, making informed calls that impact bandwidth, ROI, roadmap, investment levels and risk while balancing advertiser goals and editorial standards.
  • Socialize products and sponsorship opportunities and provide training, guidance and guides for Sales, Planning, Strategy and other go-to-market teams.
  • Partner with revenue-focused team members (including Yield, Ad Operations and Finance) to create margin-positive packages, monitor business health and support revenue reporting and performance tracking for sponsorship products.
  • Develop clearly defined, market-ready editorial sponsorship and alignment products, including pricing, packaging, positioning and go-to-market materials for sales enablement.
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Basic Qualifications
