Job description

Job Overview

Product Manager, Underwriting Specialist at CoStar Debt Solutions (CoStar Group) – Boston, in‑office.

We are building a new CRE underwriting platform that brings credit officers, data pipelines, and AI agents together on a shared data model.

As a Product Manager, you will translate underwriting scenarios into production products and encode your judgment into a system that other underwriters rely on.

Responsibilities
  • Own and evolve underwriting workflows: capital stack construction, rent roll ingestion, peer benchmarking, portfolio surveillance, and deal counterparty visibility.
  • Define default behaviors for the platform, including heuristics, variance handling, uncertainty surfacing, and human‑in‑the‑loop decisions.
  • Partner with design teams and stakeholders at banks and sponsors, translating their needs into product features.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product to decide where model capabilities end and workflow exposure begins.
  • Contribute to the roadmap for new asset classes, customer profiles, and agent‑driven workflows.
Qualifications
  • Real CRE underwriting domain experience.
  • 3+ years in a CRE underwriting, credit, or origination role with real deal exposure (Underwriter, Credit Analyst, Credit Officer, Acquisitions Associate, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of how originators and credit officers spend their days, beyond just the artifacts they produce.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Track record of commitment to prior employers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong judgment on automation versus human‑in‑the‑loop and knowing when a credit committee is essential.
  • Specificity bias: ability to set precise underwriting thresholds for LLM outputs.
  • Tech fluency: ability to read schemas, reason about software systems, and engage with product–engineering discussions.
  • Product instinct: knowledge of where defaults, settings, warnings, or no‑action belong.
  • Comfort with LLM‑driven workflows; interest in determining model decisions versus queries versus flags.
Growth Path

First year: learning product workflows, interacting with senior PMs and engineers, and contributing to shipping decisions.

Subsequent years: ownership of key platform components and influence over how underwriting logic is encoded.

Benefits
  • Annual base salary range: $99,000 – $133,000.
  • Comprehensive health benefits: medical, vision, dental, prescription drug, life, legal, and supplementary insurance.
  • Mental health counseling and commuter/parking benefits.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Employee stock purchase plan.
  • Paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and on‑site or reimbursed fitness center memberships.
  • Employee Resource Groups and complimentary healthy snacks.
