Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Mechanical Product Manager for the roll services and maintenance technology unit. You will translate technical knowledge of roll products into customer solutions, develop growth targets, and tailor product presentations to client needs.

The role combines external solution generation with internal specification work. Responsibilities include project development, reviewing drawings, providing technical support, and assisting sales with troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or five years related experience.
• Strong understanding of paper machinery and roll related products.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop project plans, review technical specifications and drawings.
• Provide technical support and assist sales with troubleshooting roll service items.
• Assist with pricing for service and modernization.
• Generate proposal drawings, graphs, simulations and specifications.
• Support engineering and inspectors with applying Valmet technology.
• Learn Valmet drawing systems to create drawings as needed.
• Develop and maintain technical competence in roll technology, including internal and external training.

Job description

Valmet Paper is looking for a Mechanical Product Manager responsible for applying roll services and an understanding of Valmet’s broader technology offerings to find customer solutions while working in the roll covering and maintenance technology unit. Providing the best customer solutions, developing growth targets within each area and ensuring the product presentations are tailored to the specific needs of our customers. The candidate must have a technical understanding of our mechanical offerings within the roll service group. This position is unique in the fact that it will require both significant interactions externally with customers for solution generation and significant interaction internally, defining specification and scopes.

• Responsibilities also include project development, reviewing technical specifications and drawings, providing technical support and assisting sales with troubleshooting roll service items.
• Regional responsibilities in the North, but some national or international travel will be required based on training needs or personal expertise.
• Assist with pricing needed for service and modernizations.
• Generating and/or proposal drawings, graphs, simulations and/or specifications and assisting with quotes.
• Supporting Engineering and Inspectors/drafters with applying the latest Valmet technology.
• Learn Valmet drawing systems to be able to create drawings as needed.
• Develop and maintain strong technical competence in roll technology; this will include training responsibilities for internal and external customers.

What you’ll need:

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Sales experience in a manufacturing setting is a desired skill set to ensure success in this position.

You should have a good understanding of paper machinery and have a strong knowledge of Roll related products and technologies with the ability to translate strategy into meaningful actions. Travel is required for this position.
