Job description

Portal.io is a SaaS platform for professional installers (think AV integrators and security installers) who are too busy running their business to wrestle with clunky software. Thousands of small businesses use Portal today, and our Proposal tool is the core of their sales process.

The mission is simple: take friction out of running an installation company so owners can focus on doing great work for their customers.

The Role

We’re hiring a Product Manager to help execute and improve core features across the Portal platform. This role is focused on turning well-defined problems and workflows into high-quality, reliable product experiences that customers can depend on.

Your first major area of focus will be integrations — working on Portal’s native connections with tools our customers already use (such as accounting, CRM, and operational software). Over time, this role may expand to other areas of the product as the company grows.

This is a hands‑on, execution-oriented role. You’ll work closely with engineering, design, customer success, and leadership to ensure features are built correctly, tested thoroughly, and refined based on real customer usage and feedback. This is not a strategy‑only role — it’s about shipping features and functionality and closing the loop with customers.

Responsibilities
Product Execution
  • Own the execution of assigned product areas, starting with Portal’s native integrations.
  • Translate defined workflows and requirements into clear product specifications for engineering.
  • Work closely with Engineering throughout development to clarify behavior, edge cases, and tradeoffs.
  • Ensure features meet Portal’s standards for usability, performance, and reliability.
Testing & Quality
  • Own testing for new features and integrations, including internal QA, edge‑case validation, and real‑world scenarios.
  • Coordinate beta testing or early access with select customers.
  • Ensure issues are identified, documented, and resolved prior to release.
Customer Feedback & Iteration
  • Partner with Customer Success and Support to understand customer pain points and product friction.
  • Engage directly with customers when needed to validate behavior and gather feedback.
  • Iterate on features based on real‑world usage and customer input.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to ensure features feel cohesive and intuitive within Portal’s product experience.
  • Work with Marketing and Customer Success on feature launches, documentation, and enablement.
  • Coordinate with external partners when work involves third‑party systems or APIs.
What We’re Looking For
  • 2+ years of Product Management experience in a SaaS or B2B software environment.
  • Strong execution skills and comfort owning features from concept through release and iteration.
  • Solid understanding of APIs, data flows, and system‑to‑system integrations (you don’t need to code, but you should understand how things connect).
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into clear product requirements and intuitive experiences.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment with short development cycles.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working cross‑functionally and with customers.
  • Bonus: Experience with integrations, vertical SaaS products, or tools like QuickBooks, Zoho, or Salesforce.
How We Like to Work

At Portal, we care deeply about the customer experience. We focus on building software that works reliably in the real world, not just in ideal scenarios. Product Managers here are expected to be hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and involved throughout the build process.

We move quickly, value clear thinking, and expect strong ownership of work. If you enjoy executing meaningful product work, collaborating closely with customers, engineers and designers, and improving software that customers rely on every day, you’ll feel at home at Portal.
