Job description

Product Manager - Hybrid | Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC- Scheduling & Autonomous Operations

We’re working with a high-growth technology company looking for a Product Manager to own a sophisticated planning and scheduling product used in a complex operational environment.

You don't necessarily need to come from the space industry. We're particularly interested in Product Managers who have worked with complex scheduling, optimisation, autonomous vehicles, robotics, fleet operations, aviation, logistics or other technical products where multiple constraints need to be turned into an executable plan.

The challenge is twofold: grow a successful product that already has an active customer base, while pushing its capabilities towards significantly greater automation and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the strategy and roadmap for a sophisticated planning and scheduling product.
  • Develop a deep understanding of how users schedule activities across limited resources, dependencies, constraints and competing priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to replace manual decision-making and coordination with intelligent, increasingly automated workflows.
  • Take feedback from an established customer base and determine what should influence the roadmap, and what shouldn't.
  • Work with engineering to explore complex scheduling and optimisation problems and translate them into scalable product capabilities.
  • Partner with product design to make technically complex workflows intuitive for users.
  • Balance near-term customer needs with the long-term architecture and health of the product.
  • Develop success metrics around scheduling effectiveness, utilisation, intervention rates, turnaround times and automation.
  • Help shape an adjacent product area whose longer-term identity and strategy are still being defined.
  • Work directly with customers, including occasional onsite visits, to understand how the product performs in real operational environments.
Key Requirements
  • 3+ years of Product Management experience in a technically complex environment.
  • Meaningful experience with scheduling, optimisation, resource allocation or autonomous operational systems.
  • Relevant backgrounds could include autonomous vehicles, robotics, logistics, fleet management, aviation, industrial technology and aerospace.
  • Evidence of taking an established product and successfully maturing or scaling it.
  • Ability to understand constraints, dependencies and complex system behaviour without needing every problem simplified by engineering.
  • Strong customer discovery and product prioritisation skills.
  • Experience collaborating closely with software engineering and product design.
  • Ability to think strategically while remaining comfortable owning execution.
  • Comfortable entering ambiguous product areas and developing a clear point of view on where they should go.
  • Aerospace experience is useful but not essential.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. export-control requirements and be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Security Clearance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager who enjoys difficult scheduling and optimisation problems to apply that experience to one of the most technically demanding operational environments.

You’ll inherit a product that customers already rely on rather than starting with a blank page. The opportunity is to understand what's working, challenge what isn't and push the platform towards a future where increasingly complex operations can be planned with far less manual intervention.
