Job description

Feit Electric has been at the forefront of global lighting innovation for 45+ years. We combine best-in-class design, manufacturing expertise, and cutting-edge technology to deliver smarter, safer, more energy‑efficient home products. We’re one of the top suppliers to major retailers nationwide, and we’re always hunting for new categories to win at scale — lighting, home products, and adjacent consumer categories. We know how to find a great idea, build it right, and bring it to market fast.

The Opportunity

This is a hands‑on Product Manager role on our New Business team. You’ll help find, validate, and launch new categories for Feit Electric —Lighting and beyond — with a focus on growing our business with our top retail partners, online, and through DTC.

You’ll own specific categories and workstreams end‑to‑end: researching the opportunity, building the business case, partnering with factories, and helping move products to market. You’ll work with the Head of New Businesses, who will set strategy, lead cost negotiations, and own the final commercial calls — but you’ll create products, drive the day‑to‑day work and are expected to come back with sharp analysis and ideas, not just completed tasks.

What we’re looking for is someone who absorbs information quickly, is comfortable with ambiguity, and reliably moves work forward without needing to be managed step by step. Category experience in lighting, electrical, or consumer electric products is a plus — but speed, ownership, judgment, and strong analytical instincts are what matter most.

What You’ll Do
  • Help identify high‑potential categories where Feit can win at key retailers; size the opportunity, analyse the competitive landscape, study shelf resets, and gather consumer and buyer input to test the thesis.
  • Build clear, well‑supported business cases – revenue potential, cost structure, margin profile, and strategic fit.
2. Support product development from factory to launch
  • Find, evaluate, and qualify manufacturers – primarily in Asia – assessing capability, capacity, and reliability.
  • Prepare cost analyses and supplier comparisons and support cost negotiations.
  • Define specs in enough detail to execute: dimensions, materials, certifications (UL, ETL, FCC), packaging – and help manage the timeline from samples through first PO.
3. Help drive success at retail
  • Learn how our retail partners evaluate new items – the winning item/program story, pricing and value, seasonal vs. permanent program – and help build retail‑ready materials: item concepts, packaging, pricing, category rationale, and sell‑through projections.
  • Partner with the business unit and sales team to help present new items and move the product pipeline forward.
4. Support the full product lifecycle
  • Help manage products from concept through launch and into portfolio management – track SKU performance and sell‑through, flag risks early, and support EOL and next‑gen planning.
  • Feed reviews, returns, and buyer feedback back into the next round of decisions.
  • Run regular market scans, analyse competitive SKUs, monitor trends, and help maintain a prioritised pipeline of new category ideas.
What You’ll Need
How you operate (most important)
  • Self‑directed and comfortable with ambiguity – you can take a defined problem, gather data quickly, and bring back a recommendation.
  • Strong ownership – you run with your workstreams and are reliably present for a fast‑paced, in‑office team.
  • Solid analytical instincts – you can build a business case, understand cost structures, and model the basic P&L for a new SKU.
  • Clear communicator – you can put together a credible story for an internal review or retail buyer and present it well.
  • Generative – you improve the plan and bring ideas, rather than only executing instructions.
What you’ve done
  • ~3–5 years in product management, category management, business development, sourcing, or a related role – ideally in consumer products, consumer electronics, or retail‑focused roles.
  • Some exposure to bringing physical products to market and to working with manufacturers, especially in Asia – or a strong, demonstrable aptitude for it.
  • Comfortable having a working conversation with a supplier in China, Thailand, Cambodia, or Vietnam about cost, lead times, tooling, and quality.
  • Experience selling to or working with big‑box retailers a plus.
  • Bachelor’s in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
How you work with AI
  • Fluent, judicious use of AI tools. We expect you to use AI to work faster and smarter – and to build the product and commercial judgement to direct it, catch its mistakes, and own the output. AI accelerates good judgement; it doesn’t replace it.
Nice to have
  • DIY & Club exposure: experience with placed items, planograms/programs, or buyer interaction.
  • Exposure to smart / connected products.
