Job description

Product Manager

Remote contract opportunity

This is a Product Manager position—not a Project Manager position. This role is responsible for determining what products should be built, why they should be built, who they should serve, and how they create measurable business value. It is not responsible for managing project schedules, tracking tasks, coordinating delivery timelines, or serving as a traditional Project Manager. You will work closely with customers, engineering, UX/UI, sales, marketing, customer success, and executive leadership to identify market opportunities, define product strategy, validate customer needs, and deliver software solutions that solve meaningful business problems. We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer discovery, product strategy, and building products customers love. You should be equally comfortable interviewing users, analyzing market trends, collaborating with engineering, presenting to executives, and making data-informed product decisions. The ideal candidate has proven experience taking products from 0-1 and scaling them from 1-N, transforming ideas into successful software products through customer discovery, market validation, product strategy, experimentation, and cross-functional leadership. While you do not need to be an engineer, you should possess the technical fluency necessary to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, understand modern software platforms, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and make informed product decisions.

About the Role

We believe the future of Product Management is AI-first—not AI-assisted. Engineering teams own architecture, technical design, and implementation. You own the product. You define the vision. You identify customer problems worth solving. You validate ideas before they’re built. You determine product priorities. You develop and communicate the roadmap. You align stakeholders around a shared product vision. You measure success through customer outcomes – not project completion. We build, validate, learn, and iterate continuously. AI is embedded throughout product discovery, customer research, planning, documentation, engineering collaboration, and product management. Success is measured by:

  • Customer adoption
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Business outcomes
  • Product growth
  • Working software —not project plans, meetings, or task completion.

If you enjoy solving complex customer problems, influencing product direction, and building innovative software products, we'd love to talk. If you prefer managing schedules, coordinating project plans, or focusing primarily on Agile ceremonies, this role is probably not the right fit.

What You'll Own
  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with company objectives
  • Own the complete product lifecycle from discovery through launch and continuous product evolution
  • Lead customer discovery, user research, and market analysis to identify opportunities and validate product ideas
  • Translate customer insights into product strategy, MVPs, and prioritized product investments
  • Gather, prioritize, and refine product requirements based on customer needs, market trends, business objectives, and technical feasibility
  • Create and maintain product roadmaps, feature priorities, and product backlogs
  • Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements that enable successful engineering delivery
  • Partner closely with Engineering, UX/UI, QA, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and executive leadership throughout the product lifecycle
  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, product reviews, and release planning to ensure engineering teams are delivering the highest-value product initiatives
  • Define product success metrics and use customer feedback, KPIs, analytics, and business performance to guide product decisions
  • Work with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Support to ensure successful product launches, customer adoption, and ongoing product success
  • Monitor competitive products, industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI advancements to identify future opportunities
  • Balance customer needs, business priorities, and technical constraints when making product decisions
  • Communicate product strategy, roadmap progress, business value, and product outcomes to executive leadership and stakeholders
  • Use AI as a core productivity and decision-making accelerator across research, planning, documentation, prioritization, and communication
  • Help establish and continuously improve AI-first Product Management practices across the organization
What AI-First Means Here You:
  • Use AI to accelerate customer research and product discovery
  • Leverage AI to summarize customer interviews and identify trends
  • Use AI to evaluate product opportunities and generate insights
  • Improve documentation, planning, prioritization, and communication using AI
  • Automate repetitive product management workflows
  • Think in scalable systems and repeatable processes
  • Continuously improve how products are discovered, built, and managed AI is part of your everyday workflow—not something you occasionally experiment with.
What This Role Is NOT
  • Creating project plans
  • Managing project schedules or timelines
  • Tracking tasks and milestones
  • Resource allocation
  • Budget tracking
  • Status reporting
  • Managing project risks
  • Coordinating delivery logistics
  • Running Agile ceremonies as a Scrum Master
  • Managing engineering execution

Those responsibilities belong to Project Managers, Delivery Managers, Scrum Masters, and Engineering Managers.

Instead, your success will be measured by:
  • Identify meaningful customer problems
  • Validate market opportunities
  • Develop winning product strategies
  • Build compelling product roadmaps
  • Increase product adoption
  • Deliver measurable customer and business value
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 7+ years of Product Management experience delivering enterprise SaaS or software products
  • Demonstrated success taking products from 0?1, including discovery, validation, MVP definition, launch, and product growth
  • Experience managing products throughout the complete product lifecycle
  • Proven experience developing product strategy and managing long-term product roadmaps
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into product requirements and strategic product decisions
  • Strong customer discovery, user research, stakeholder interview, and market research experience
  • Experience performing competitive analysis and identifying market opportunities
  • Strong understanding of Agile product development methodologies
  • Experience partnering closely with Engineering, UX/UI, QA, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and executive leadership
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using product metrics, KPIs, analytics, and customer insights to guide decisions
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Ability to prioritize multiple product initiatives while maintaining strategic focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience using AI-powered productivity tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building enterprise SaaS platforms
  • Experience launching AI-enabled software products
  • Healthcare technology or other regulated industry experience
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Productboard, or similar Product Management tools
  • Familiarity with UX research, customer journey mapping, and design thinking
  • Experience creating business cases and evaluating product investments
  • Product Management certification (Pragmatic, AIPMM, or equivalent) preferred
  • MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus
  • Experience working with distributed, cross-functional teams
Competencies
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
  • Customer-first mindset
  • Product visionary with a bias toward action
  • Strong product discovery and problem-solving skills
  • Data-driven decision maker
  • Excellent prioritization and decision-making abilities
  • Exceptional communication and influence
  • Collaborative leadership style
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity while creating clarity for others
  • Ownership mentality with strong accountability
  • AI-first mindset with a passion for continuous innovation
Culture Fit
You’ll thrive here if you:
  • Think like an owner
  • Love solving customer problems
  • Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Prefer outcomes over process
  • Move quickly and iterate often
  • Make decisions using customer insights and data
  • Embrace AI as part of your everyday workflow
  • Adapt quickly as priorities evolve
  • Enjoy collaborating across disciplines
You may not thrive here if you:
  • Prefer managing projects over building products
  • Prefer only managing backlogs and Agile ceremonies
  • Need highly prescriptive direction before taking action
  • Want to own engineering architecture or implementation
  • Prefer slow-moving organizations with excessive process
  • Resist AI-enabled ways of working
  • Focus more on project execution than customer outcomes
