Job summary

Legrand is seeking an Industrial Engineering Technician for its Chicago, IL Product Development team. The role focuses on hands-on design of manufacturing workstations, jigs/fixtures, and operator training to enable quick design decisions and production support.

The successful candidate will train Assembly, Paint, and Fabrication teams on new processes, handle setup, and contribute to continuous improvement in a collaborative environment with 8:00am-5:00pm hours and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the launch of new and updated products by owning new product development and engineering activities related to production, including the setup of manufacturing work areas, creation of jigs and fixtures, and training operators.
• Work with Industrial Engineering and Operations teams to determine and implement production processes for new products and engineering changes and create work instructions.
• Assist in the validation of new and updated product designs by creating mockups and test samples, coordinating prototype and pilot builds, and collecting production feedback.
• Facilitate manufacturing systems setup by performing time studies and creating production routings.
• Investigate and scope requirements for engineering changes and manufacturing issues.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvements and drive communication between the teams involved in product designs and launches.
