A leading IT services company is looking for a Product Investigation & Failure Analysis Engineer to join their team in Cupertino. This hands-on role involves working in a fast-paced lab environment on material analyses, requiring knowledge in various analytical techniques. Ideal candidates will have a B.S. degree in a relevant field along with the ability to handle and prepare samples safely in a lab setting.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Material Science, Chemistry, or similar field preferred.
• Knowledge of metrology and material characterization tools essential.
• Experience working in a lab environment, handling chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers on lab services for metrology and material analyses.
• Receive, sort, and catalog samples for analysis.
• Prepare samples and compile data for engineer analysis.

Skills

Knowledge of material characterization and metrology tools

Familiarity with analytical techniques including SEM-EDS

Familiarity with analytical techniques including FTIR

Familiarity with analytical techniques including CT & 2D X-ray

Familiarity with analytical techniques including XPS

Familiarity with analytical techniques including Cross Sections

Familiarity with analytical techniques including Focused Ion Beams

Experience in handling and preparing samples for analyses

Knowledge of safe work practices in a lab environment

Education

B.S. degree in Science or Engineering

Additional Scope

• Lab Organization and Services:
• Receives, sorts, and catalogues samples for incoming requests.
• Arranges sample hand-offs and returns with third party lab couriers.
• Front-end imaging of samples upon intake.
• Returns and/or scraps samples at the end of the investigations.
• Analysis:
• Receives experiment plan and/or SOPs from engineers.
• Prepares samples for analysis and provides to third party labs.
• Compiles data, documents findings, and provides summary to Engineers for interpretation

• Verifies that all analyses are completed satisfactorily.
  
  

Skills

• B.S. degree in Science or Engineering preferred (Material Science, Chemistry, etc)
• Knowledge of material characterization and metrology tools
• Familiarity with analytical techniques including:

• CT & 2D X-ray

• Cross Sections
• Focused Ion Beams
• Experience in handling and preparing samples for analyses

Salary Range: $63,400-$120,000 a year
