Job summary

Product Introduction Field Modification Engineer

Location: West Mifflin, PA

Employment Type: 6-12 month contract with opportunity for permanent hire

Industry: Transportation Manufacturing

Compensation: $45-$48/hour

Schedule: M-F, Day Shift

Our PI FM Engineers test & commission mechanical, electrical, control, onboard communications, and network systems on railway vehicles. The role involves performing field modifications and ensuring they meet engineering and customer acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver modification files for implementation on various product configurations in the field in accordance with engineering and customer acceptance criteria.
  • Performance measurement:
    1. S – Respect for the timeframe for modification preparation in compliance with EHS rules and work-related processes
    2. Q – Level of accuracy, maturity, and applicability of the final modification file, with customer acceptance and quality level of the final modification
    3. C – Respect of the timeframe for modification preparation with achievement of contractual availability (milestone) targets
    4. D – Completeness and quality of FM implementation data recorded in the database
  • Plan and coordinate the creation of field modification files and any other relevant documentation.
  • Establish the necessary qualified staffing and liaise with procurement to ensure timely supplies of associated tools and materials.
  • Verify field modification files, including test procedures (completeness, availability, validation).
  • Coordinate and ensure timely deployment (and optimization of train downtime) of all modifications in collaboration with the Project Management, Project Implementation, and the customer.
  • Ensure quality, cost, and delays of the field modifications through the selection of appropriate competencies.
  • Support PrPIM in all field modification-related matters.
  • Implement and enforce Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements on the Project Implementation customer site.
  • Ensure Project Implementation processes are respected.
  • Ensure the implementation of appropriate action plans for any deviation or non-conformity within the scope of Facility Management implementation.
  • Supervise Supplier modification implementation if necessary.
  • Ensure data management and updates regarding Facility Management are reported in the same tools.
  • Integrate respect for EHS rules and any work-related processes.
  • Take Return of Experience (REX) about the first modification implementation and adjust/optimize documents & tools for cost and time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a mechanical, manufacturing, or quality engineer

  • Experience in the transportation industry
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to work closely with both internal teams and external customers
