Qualifications

Job Description:
Product Engineering Summer/Fall Co-Op (Jun-Dec 2027)

Skyworks is seeking a motivated Co-Op to join the Product Engineering organization in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Product Engineering team plays a critical role in transitioning semiconductor products from development into high-volume manufacturing while ensuring product quality, performance, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness. In this role, you will support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and production sustaining activities, working alongside experienced Product Engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams across Design, Test, Quality, Reliability, and Operations. Through hands-on involvement in product development and manufacturing support, you will apply data analytics, engineering problem-solving, and automation techniques to evaluate product performance, support manufacturing readiness, investigate technical challenges, and drive continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.

The selected Co-Op may contribute to projects such as:

  • NPI manufacturing readiness and production release support.
  • Yield and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Product Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and Characterization test and data analysis.
  • Develop tools, automated reporting solutions and engineering dashboards to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Customer Return analysis and product problem-solving investigations.
Responsibilities
  • Work alongside seasoned engineers to support Product Engineering activities for new product introductions and sustaining products.
  • Analyze ATE, wafer probe, characterization, and manufacturing data to identify trends, determine root causes, and improve product performance.
  • Generate technical summaries, statistical reports, and engineering presentations from large data sets.
  • Assist in qualification and reliability activities, including data analysis and documentation support.
  • Support customer return (RMA) investigations by coordinating testing, reviewing results, and helping determine corrective actions.
  • Collect and analyze characterization data, including bench-to-ATE correlation activities.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve product, process, and test-related issues.
  • Contribute to yield enhancement, test-time reduction, and cost optimization projects.
  • Assist with product documentation, release packages, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Develop scripts, tools, or automated workflows to improve engineering productivity and data analysis efficiency.
  • Work with AI-enabled engineering platforms and modern software tools to streamline workflows.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Electrical and Computer Engineering
    • Related engineering discipline
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite in our Cedar Rapids location for 6 months (Jun-Dec 2027)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with statistical data analysis techniques.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductors, electronics, or test engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate technical findings effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Desired Experience and Skills
  • Interest in semiconductor manufacturing, product development, and test engineering.
  • Coursework in embedded systems, mixed-signal circuits, RF, or semiconductor devices.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and troubleshoot electronic systems.
  • Experience or exposure to programming, scripting, or data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, SQL, Power BI, or similar platforms for data analysis, automation, and engineering problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with version control and collaboration platforms such as GitHub.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning, AI and data automation tools.
  • Experience working with large data sets, data visualization and reporting.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
