Product Engineer - New Product Development

AmeriWater is a long-established industry leader in the design, manufacture, installation and supply of water purification systems and services for dialysis, industrial and healthcare applications. We are looking for a Product Engineer - New Product Development to join our growing team in Dayton, Ohio!

Work Location: Onsite - Dayton, Ohio

Position Summary

Participates in new product development efforts – designing, developing, and launching groundbreaking products that set new standards in the medical and healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background, speed and accuracy to market, and a passion for driving new product initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support the full new product development lifecycle, from early concept through market launch.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure successful product development.
  • Conduct market and competitive research to help identify customer needs and product opportunities.
  • Contribute to project planning by tracking timelines, deliverables, and budgets.
  • Design, prototype, and test innovative medical devices using CAD software, rapid prototyping, and lab tools.
  • Build, assemble, and troubleshoot electro-mechanical fluidic prototypes, including pumps, motors, sensors, and solenoids.
  • Perform product testing and validation to verify performance, quality, and durability.
  • Design and build test fixtures to support verification activities.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, documentation, and prototypes for regulatory and internal review.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance product performance, reduce cost, and streamline development.
  • Stay current with relevant technologies, tools, and materials to apply innovative solutions to product challenges.
  • Communicate project progress, technical findings, and issues to the engineering team and management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering, specifically focused on new product development.
  • Demonstrated success in leading new product development projects from concept to launch.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and creative thinking skills.
  • Visionary engineer with passion for new product development.
  • Proven project management skills, with experience in agile methodologies being a plus.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
