Job summary

Liberty Pumps Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support LEP and Commercial product lines by performing CAD model, drawing, and BOM creation and maintenance.

You will execute smaller projects in collaboration with the LEP/Commercial engineering team to enhance product design and development. The role requires mentoring in CAD/engineering practices, staying current with assembly techniques, and providing technical support across design, testing, and manufacturing efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with minimum 2 years of leading product development projects.
  • Training and working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and advanced problem-solving tools are required.
  • SolidWorks Certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and mentor CAD activities.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor others in CAD asset management using SolidWorks, PDM, and Epicor.
  • Provide technical support to assemblies, design changes, and manufacturing processes as needed.
  • Stay current with Liberty Pumps assembly techniques and equipment.
  • Work with product development engineers on line expansion projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Act as liaison between engineering teams and CAD group for drawings and spare parts information.
  • Support Sales Teams, Application Engineers, and Customer Service with LEP/Commercial products.
  • Maintain awareness of ISO 9001 requirements and related forms/instructions.
  • Stay up to date with manufacturing process capabilities and assembly methods.
  • Ensure safe, clean, and organized work area; follow safety guidelines.

Job description

Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually

Summary: Support the LEP and Commercial product lines by performing key functions such as product model, drawing, and BOM creation, maintenance of design related data, and execution of smaller projects in cooperation with the LEP / Commercial engineering team.

  • Well versed and able to mentor others in skills and knowledge required to manage product CAD and BOM assets in SolidWorks, PDM, and Epicor.
  • Stay current with Liberty Pumps assembly techniques and equipment and provide technical support to these areas as needed.
  • Stay current with the Liberty Pumps Product Engineering Project Design and Development procedures and all concepts therein.
  • Become familiar with Liberty Pumps LEP and Commercial products and their respective markets.
  • Work with LEP / Commercial Product Development Engineers on product line expansion projects.
  • Act as liaison between LEP/ Commercial engineering team and CAD team related to assembly drawings, LEPS design, management of spare parts information, and communication of product changes.
  • Support LEP and Commercial Sales Teams, Application Engineers, and Customer Service Team related to LEP and Commercial products and information.
  • Understand the Liberty Pumps Quality statement and incorporate it into his/her skill set for product design and development.
  • Stay up to date with Liberty Pumps manufacturing process capabilities and assembly methods.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering related to assembly processes and improvements.
  • Maintain awareness of vendor, manufacturing, and field quality performance, and incorporate countermeasures in new product designs.
  • Develop and maintain an open, professional working relationship with all internal Liberty Pumps departments and individuals.
  • Develop and maintain an open, professional working relationship with external Liberty Pumps partners and vendors.
  • Exercise engineering techniques and skills including teamwork, group presentations, project timelines, and brainstorming techniques.
  • Continue to hone skills related to design, assembly, and detailing using SolidWorks CAD software and EPDM.
  • Stay up to date with available tools such as CFD and mechanical simulation software, rapid prototyping, etc. and utilize as needed.
  • Maintain a strong engineering skill base and awareness of industry trends through trade journals, professional technical classes, seminars, etc.
  • Occasionally help direct the efforts of the Engineering Co-op Students and lab personnel with the guidance of the Director of Engineering.
  • Stay current with the Liberty Pumps ISO 9001 Forms and Work Instructions as they pertain to his or her efforts.
  • Stay up to date with all Liberty processes required for tracking projects, documents, etc.
  • You will be expected to perform in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • You will be responsible for following safety guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and using good safety judgment. You will be expected to report all unsafe activities and conditions to the Supervisor and/or Safety Representative.

Minimum Qualifications: Computer literate in common word processing and Windows-based programs and strong set of maintained CAD skills. Willing to work in a team environment, and familiar with concurrent engineering techniques, design of experiments, design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA). Skilled at multitasking and moving projects through various development phases

Education/Training: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with minimum 2 years of experience leading successful product development projects. Training and working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and advanced problem-solving tools are required.

Licensure/Certification: SolidWorks Certification preferred

Experience/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, solid modeling, etc. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while managing tasks based on priority. Willing to work in a team environment and familiar with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly. Self-motivated, capable of taking direction as well as working with minimal supervision and able to mentor others in CAD activities.

Work Schedule/Hours: Monday – Friday with typical business hours. Occasional overtime may be necessary when working on special projects. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
