Cummins Inc. in Columbus, IN is seeking a Product Engineer to join the Engineering team at the Columbus Midrange Engine Plant. You will contribute to product quality, reliability, and cross-functional development efforts.

The role emphasizes applying structured engineering methods, collaborating with manufacturing and suppliers, and owning project execution from concept to deployment, while balancing performance, cost, and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM required.
• Master's degree relevant to this discipline may be required for select roles.
• This position may require licensing for export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities

• Drive product quality and reliability by investigating issues and owning resolution.
• Support product development and program processes within PPT, VPI, and CPS.
• Apply structured engineering methodologies such as ESW, iDFMEA, FIRG, design reviews, and 7-step problem solving.
• Collaborate with engineers, managers, suppliers, and stakeholders to provide data-driven recommendations.
• Advance projects through testing, analysis, and cross-functional coordination.
• Own increasingly complex components and systems, balancing performance, cost, and schedule.
• Improve processes and operational effectiveness by executing established work systems.
• Coordinate technicians and student employees to strengthen team performance.
