Job summary

Aalberts IPSA in North Carolina is seeking a Design Engineer II to lead the design and development of electromechanical valve and flow control products. You will integrate actuators, sensors, and electronic controls into robust, market-ready solutions and advance our smart product capabilities from concept through commercialization.

This hands-on role requires collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain, plus rigorous lab testing, validation, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience developing electromechanical or industrial products.
  • Experience integrating electrical, electronic, or electromechanical components into commercial or industrial products.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, electrical schematics, electromechanical integration, and product development.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software and engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electromechanical valve and flow control products.
  • Integrate actuators, sensors, electronic controls, and communication devices into engineered product solutions.
  • Develop 3D models, drawings, schematics, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Support the integration of connected and intelligent features into mechanical products.
  • Contribute to product designs that enable remote monitoring, system visibility, commissioning, and diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on electronics, communication, and embedded software‑related solutions.
  • Plan and conduct laboratory testing and validation activities, including validation of electromechanical and software‑enabled system performance.
  • Analyze test results and implement design improvements.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and quality requirements.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support product development and launches.

  • Design and develop electromechanical valve and flow control products
  • Integrate actuators, motors, sensors, electronic controls, and communication devices into engineered product solutions

  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support product development and launches
  • Support supplier and partner engagement to evaluate and integrate new technologies and components
  • Contribute to product development from concept through production
  • Research emerging technologies relevant to electromechanical, connected, and software‑enabled products
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and support future product development
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by your manager

requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Experience integrating commercially available technologies into mechanical products.
  • Experience with industrial valves, flow control products, HVAC equipment, fluid handling systems, industrial automation, or similar engineered products.
  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, FCC, CE, or other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Experience bringing products from concept through production.

work environment

  • This role is primarily based in office areas but may involve occasional visits to production and warehouse areas requiring adherence to safety protocols, including personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, a safety vest, and steel‑toed shoes when on the shop floor or near loading docks.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer work, data entry, and handling documents.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds, such as files, boxes, or company branded items or equipment.
  • Visual acuity to review detailed reports, production schedules, P&C data, personnel data on screens and in print.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate with all departments, vendors and colleagues.
  • Exposure occasionally to a manufacturing environment that may include noise, temperature variations and moving equipment.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, gloves, hearing protection, and respirators when applicable.
  • Ability to respond to alarms and emergencies in a fast‑paced industrial setting.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate with all departments, vendors and colleagues. Specifically, upper intermediate (B2) language level in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, leaders, vendors, and visitors in office, production, and warehouse environments, including areas where background noise is present and hearing protection is required. Must be able to receive and exchange information necessary to perform the essential functions of the role and follow safety protocols in an industrial setting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
