Job summary

Southwire Company is seeking an engineer to develop packaging equipment and materials for safe, efficient transport of goods. You will analyze engineering drawings and product specifications to optimize packaging, evaluate methods, and recommend innovations in materials and fastening techniques.

The role involves coordinating cross-functional development with manufacturing, quality and marketing to meet milestones, and designing solutions with CAD tools while ensuring manufacturability and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in engineering; any discipline accepted.
• Engineering (Any discipline) degree preferred; EIT certification desirable.
• 2–4 years of experience in packaging engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop packaging equipment and materials for safe, efficient transport of goods.
• Analyze drawings and specs to optimize packaging for utility and compliance.
• Evaluate methods, identify efficiency opportunities, and suggest material/technique innovations.
• Coordinate product development with cross-functional teams to meet milestones.
• Design product solutions using CAD tools and ensure manufacturability and cost targets.
• Create prototypes, conduct tests, and document results for continuous improvement.
• Communicate progress to leadership and align stakeholders on goals.
