Job summary

SlingShot Connections seeks a Packaging Engineer to design and implement packaging solutions from concept to production. You will use CAD tools to create robust packaging, validate designs through testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in packaging engineering, strong materials knowledge (corrugated, foam, corru-plastic, wood crates), and proficiency in SolidWorks, Artios CAD, AutoCAD, and Adobe

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of packaging engineering experience.
• Subject matter expert in packaging materials including corrugated, foam, corrup-plastic, and wooden crates.
• Proficient with SolidWorks, Artios CAD, AutoCAD, and Adobe Illustrator.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and packaging production methods.
• Experience creating prototypes and validating designs via testing.
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design packaging solutions using CAD software including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Artios CAD.
• Develop packaging that protects products during transportation, storage, and handling.
• Conduct feasibility studies and validate packaging designs through fit, drop, and performance testing.
• Create prototypes and mockups using CNC cutting equipment.
• Prepare customer drawings, production specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Develop BOMs and raw material records within the ERP system.
• Prepare packaging cost estimates and pricing for the sales team.
• Coordinate production tooling and support first article inspections.
• Implement design revisions and maintain engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Sales, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Production, Customer Service, and manufacturing teams to support customer requirements.
• Ensure packaging solutions are cost-effective, manufacturable, and meet quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that optimize materials, processes, and production efficiency.
