Job summary

Foundation Alloy Technology Explorations, Inc in Cambridge, MA seeks a Product Engineer to bridge novel alloy breakthroughs and manufacturable products. You will focus on hands-on testing, characterization, and documentation within the Product Department.

Qualifications

• Requires MS or PhD in materials science, mechanical engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of industry experience in metallurgy, materials engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with alloy processing techniques such as powder metallurgy, heat treatment or additive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own post-testing failure analysis of customer tests and identify root causes.
• Design and build custom tests, rigs, and proxy methods to measure product performance under real-world conditions.
• Collaborate with external labs on high-temperature properties, wear, fatigue, oxidation, corrosion, DBTT, Gleeble, and spectroscopic analysis.
• Maintain detailed test data documentation by alloy and product for the org.
• Calibrate and maintain internal testing equipment and implement best practices for accurate measurements.
• Author and maintain material datasheets, characterization procedures, and technical docs for alloy lines.
• Partner with product engineers and scientists to determine testing needs and design custom tests.
