Job summary

Digital Waffle in New York is hiring a Product Engineer to build the products customers actually want, not just features on a Jira board. You will work closely with founders, design and users, turning fuzzy problems into shipped, polished product.

Expect to own features end-to-end, maintain a high bar on craft and UX, and move fast on what matters. You will instrument what you ship and collaborate with design and founders on scope and trade-offs, leaning on AI tooling to accelerate delivery.

A high-growth AI-native startup is hiring a Product Engineer in New York and to build product customers actually want, not just features on a Jira board.

This is a role for engineers who care about the thing being shipped as much as the code underneath it. You’ll work closely with founders, design and users, taking fuzzy problems and turning them into shipped, polished product. Expect to make real product calls, hold a high bar on craft and move fast on what matters.

Location: New York, 5 days per week in office

What you’ll be doing:

• Build end-to-end product features across Python, TypeScript, React and Next.js
• Take fuzzy problems from the founders and users and turn them into shipped, usable product
• Hold a high bar on UX, polish and the details that make product feel great
• Instrument what you ship so you can tell what’s actually working
• Partner with design and founders on scope, priorities and trade-offs
• Lean on AI tooling (Claude, Cursor and similar) to compress the cycle from idea to live feature
• Iterate directly against real user feedback

What you’ll need:

• Strong Python, TypeScript, React and Next.js production experience
• Genuine product sensibility: you care how things feel, not just how they work
• Comfortable owning features end to end with little direction
• Fluent in modern AI engineering tools and able to use them to raise output
• Opinionated but pragmatic on product decisions, with the confidence to push back
• Happy in a 5-days in-office, high-intensity environment

Nice to have:

• Prior Product Engineer or very early startup experience
• Design-adjacent skills or strong taste for interface craft
