Job summary

LHH is seeking an experienced mechanical/ manufacturing engineer to lead multiple product development programs from concept through release. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to assure milestones, validation, and production launches are met.

You will drive engineering studies, provide technical recommendations, and mentor less-experienced engineers while engaging external partners and customers as needed. Domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in product development or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience supporting customer programs in engineered manufacturing or transportation.
  • Knowledge of APQP, cross-functional execution.
  • Familiarity with structural design, durability and materials.

Job description

  • Lead and support multiple engineering programs simultaneously while ensuring project milestones, launch timing, and deliverables are achieved.
  • Partner with design, manufacturing, quality, and program teams throughout development, validation, and production phases.
  • Conduct engineering studies related to product performance, structural integrity, manufacturability, feasibility, and cost optimization.
  • Provide technical recommendations and present findings to internal stakeholders, customers, and leadership teams.
  • Work closely with external partners and customers to understand performance requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Support prototype builds, testing activities, product validation efforts, and production launches.
  • Drive improvements in engineering standards, development processes, and design methodologies.
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, automation tools, and data-driven approaches to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of technical capabilities across the organization.
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites, manufacturing locations, and project meetings as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, structural systems, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting customer programs within a highly engineered manufacturing or transportation environment.
  • Understanding of product development processes, program launches, APQP, and cross-functional project execution.
  • Knowledge of structural design, durability, performance evaluation, lightweight materials, and manufacturing feasibility considerations.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, technical specifications, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with engineering simulation, design optimization, CAD/CAE tools, and analytical methods.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes such as forming, joining, welding, fabrication, or assembly is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Experience with advanced engineering analysis software and 3D design tools is considered a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
