Job summary

SMP Engineering, Inc is seeking a Product Engineer to drive the next generation of innovative machinery. This hands-on role covers the full engineering journey from concept to production, with emphasis on rapid iteration and continuous improvement.

You will own from ideation through production, collaborating with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to translate concepts into manufacturable solutions using SolidWorks and related tools, focusing on cost, durability, and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in Product Engineering/Design Engineering/Product Development Engineering, preferably in NPD.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).
• Deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
• Experience in industrial machinery manufacturing.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support new product development efforts from ideation to launch.
• Translate concepts into detailed engineering designs using SolidWorks and similar tools.

SALARY - $38.46-48.08/hr (85-100k a year)

What You’ll Do

As a key contributor in our NPD process, you’ll own the engineering journey from concept through production and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where design meets manufacturing.

• Lead and support new product development (NPD) efforts from ideation to launch
• Translate concepts into detailed engineering designs using SolidWorks and similar tools
• Partner cross-functionally with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility and efficiency

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in Product Engineering / Design Engineering / Product Development Engineering, ideally in an NPD-focused environment
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
• Deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards
• Experience in industrial machinery manufacturing
• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
