Job summary

Aptonet is seeking a Product Engineer to design commercial products and production processes. You will transform concepts into marketable products in collaboration with product development teams, grounded in industry research and sound engineering practice.

You will create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, manage ERP data in SAP, and support rollout and maintenance of products across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• 2+ years of experience in Automation Machinery Manufacturing.
• Proficient with SharePoint, SAP, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong GD&T and engineering drawing standards understanding.
• Ability to interpret measurements in imperial and metric.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new products under leadership of the Lead Engineer.
• Serve as lead engineer for a designated product line.
• Support the rollout of new products across the organization.
• Update and maintain existing products.
• Provide technical support to internal departments, suppliers, and customers.
• Create 3D CAD models in Autodesk Inventor, with emphasis on sheet metal modeling.
• Produce detailed 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Enter and maintain item masters, bills of materials, and routings in the ERP system (SAP experience a plus).
• Manage engineering requests and create material master tracking objects.
• Develop and maintain training materials and reference library for MCP systems.
• Train other engineers on systems and methods for troubleshooting SAP.

Job description

The Product Engineer is responsible for designing commercial products and their associated production processes. This role partners closely with product development teams to transform concepts into marketable products, grounded in industry research and sound engineering practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following reflects the core functions of this role but is not exhaustive. Employees may be asked to take on additional related duties as business needs evolve.

• Design, develop, and implement new products under the direction of the Lead Engineer
• Serve as lead engineer for a designated product line
• Support the rollout of new products across the organization
• Update and maintain existing products
• Provide technical support to internal departments, suppliers, and customers
• Create 3D CAD models in Autodesk Inventor, with an emphasis on sheet metal modeling
• Produce detailed 2D part drawings using Autodesk Inventor
• Enter and maintain item masters, bills of materials, and routings in the ERP system (SAP experience a plus)
• Manage engineering requests and create material master tracking objects
• Develop and maintain training materials and a reference library for future engineers on MCP-specific systems
• Train other engineers on systems and methods for troubleshooting MCP-specific issues in SAP
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 2+ years of experience in Automation Machinery Manufacturing
• Proficiency with SharePoint, SAP, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Outlook; working knowledge of Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams
• Solid understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
• Comfort working with both imperial and metric measurements
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Working knowledge of math fundamentals - fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and algebra
• Sound judgment and decision-making ability in ambiguous situations; skilled at defining problems, gathering data, and drawing valid conclusions
• Adaptability to shifting project demands, with initiative to complete critical tasks independently and as part of a team
• Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and manage multiple abstract and concrete variables
• Ability to write clear reports, correspondence, and procedures, and present information to managers, customers, clients, and vendors
• Ability to read and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, and communicate verbally. Requires close and color vision. Work environment noise level is generally low.
