Schneider Electric in the United States is seeking a Product Engineer to independently take mechanical designs from requirement through engineering release for modular data center solutions in North America.
You will create production-ready 3D models and drawings in Creo, apply DFM principles, and ensure CAD-to-PDM readiness while collaborating with Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve issues and improve designs.
In a high-agility and fast-paced environment, decisions, tools, and engineering improvements are expected to be implemented and deployed within months of learning. In this challenging setting, you will be expected to independently design, develop, detail, and release mechanical parts, assemblies, junctions, connections, and equipment used within modular data center solutions across North American Manufacturing.
You will be responsible for strengthening design ownership, drawing integrity, manufacturability, and engineering definition by creating and maintaining 3D models and technical drawings utilizing DfMA principles and engineering standards.
You will report to the Systems Engineering Manager and work closely with the Mechanical, Electrical, Design, Manufacturing, and Product Data Engineering teams to review, refine, and release designs for project-specific applications.
Unlike the co-op position, this role is expected to independently take designs from an identified engineering requirement through modeling, detailing, design review, engineering release, and manufacturing support, escalating complex technical decisions when necessary.
Success in this role means project-specific and proprietary designs are fully defined, manufacturable, traceable, and documented to a level where they can be consistently produced by our internal manufacturing plants or outsourced to qualified suppliers and fabrication shops.
A successful Product Engineer becomes a reliable technical owner of the designs assigned to them, reducing ambiguity between Engineering and Manufacturing while improving the completeness, repeatability, and quality of engineering deliverables.
