Teamprovide in Detroit is seeking a Product Engineer to design and release seating components using CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE, ensuring GD&T compliance from concept through launch. Product Engineer responsible for designing and releasing seating components in CATIA for a leading Tier 1 automotive seating supplier. Owns CAD and drawing package from concept through launch support, ensuring GD&T compliance and collaboration with trim, foam, and manufacturing teams. Supports prototype builds, testing, and design reviews to meet program objectives.
Build 3D models and surfaces of seating components in CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE
Create and release 2D drawings with full GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and OEM drawing standards
Define datum schemes, tolerances and stack-ups for foam, head restraint, armrest and back panel parts
Design trim interface features in partnership with trim engineering
Support design reviews, packaging studies and feasibility checks with manufacturing and tooling
Manage engineering changes, BOM updates and PLM/PDM data
Support prototype builds, DV/PV testing and launch issue resolution
Contribute to DFMEA and APQP deliverables
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of automotive product design or product engineering experience
Strong CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE skills (part design, surfacing, assembly, drafting)
Solid GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5) and experience producing release-quality drawings
Basic understanding of seat trim: cover construction, attachment methods and trim-to-foam fit
Familiarity with engineering change management and PLM systems
Detail-oriented, organized and able to manage multiple components on a deadline
Automotive seating experience at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
Experience designing molded polyurethane foam parts or plastic/structural components
Tolerance stack-up analysis
Exposure to OEM drawing standards (GM, Ford, Stellantis, Toyota)
GD&T certification (GDTP) a plus
