thyssenkrupp Crankshaft Company, LLC in Danville, Illinois is seeking a Product Engineer to lead new product development for crankshafts. Responsibilities include creating drawings, validating production feasibility, conducting fatigue analyses, and coordinating with Customer Product engineering on design changes and future needs.
The role requires a Bachelor degree in mechanical/ Automotive/ production engineering and 3+ years in automotive crankshaft manufacturing, including RFQ pricing, GD&T,
Your responsibilities
Duties include: Responsible for all technical tasks related to new product development within the project framework and ensuring compliance with product specifications and regulatory standards; develop product drawings and ensure that production is feasible based on customer specifications; run virtual analyses of fatigue bench tests and crankshaft balancing; work with Customer Product engineering identify design changes and future product needs and trends; perform design and simulation using numerical techniques and perform design for manufacturing; oversee technical assessment of products to develop customer quote through AQPQ process; develop timelines and summaries for new products or changes to existing products; and provide technical support to sales department.
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Production Engineering, or equivalent foreign degree.
3 years’ experience in a Product Development or Project Engineering role in automotive crankshaft manufacturing industry.
Must have 3 years of work experience with each of the following: developing forged and machined parts and managing changes in existing products for automotive and industrial fields, including crankshafts, connecting rods, gears, pistons and shafts; producing RFQs by developing product price, managing offer deadlines, technical negotiations and potential cost reductions; utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and its application to crankshaft designs; 3D modelling and simulation software including Pro-E, Creo, GOM, Altair Hyperworks/Simlab and AutoCAD for steel automotive parts production; and communicating with customers regarding steel automotive parts manufacturing and new product development.
Salary Range: $80,558 - $90,000 per year.
