About the role :

The Director of Finance Treasury Product plays a multifaceted role, overseeing both the financial risk and safeguarding aspects of external product development and leading internal system enhancements, such as treasury management software upgrades. As a key member of the Product team, this position acts as the key liaison between the Treasury / Finance department and the Product team, ensuring that risk management, safeguarding, and internal system needs are effectively addressed. In addition, this role will serve as the product owner for internal treasury system development and upgrades.

What will you be doing?

Financial Risk & Safeguarding Advocacy :

• Serve as the primary authority and advocate for financial risk and safeguarding requirements within product development initiatives.
• Define and articulate clear financial risk and safeguarding standards and expectations for all new products.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential financial risks, including those related to safeguarding customer funds, in new product designs.

Product Design & Development Integration :

• Collaborate closely with product development teams to integrate financial risk and safeguarding considerations into the product development lifecycle from conception to launch.
• Provide expert guidance on how product features, functionalities, and user interfaces can be designed to mitigate financial risks and ensure robust safeguarding.
• Participate in product design reviews, testing, and implementation, with a specific focus on validating that safeguarding measures and risk controls are effectively integrated.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive framework for assessing and managing financial risks, including safeguarding risks, associated with new products.
• Ensure all new products comply with relevant financial regulations and industry best practices related to safeguarding.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to monitor and mitigate financial risks and safeguard customer funds effectively.

Internal Systems Product Ownership :

• Serve as the product owner for internal Treasury system development and upgrades, including treasury management software.
• Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for internal Treasury systems, in alignment with overall business objectives.
• Gather and prioritize requirements for internal Treasury system enhancements and upgrades.
• Work closely with technology teams to oversee the development, testing, and deployment of internal Treasury systems.

Communication and training :

• Communicate financial risk and safeguarding requirements clearly and effectively to product teams, senior management, and other stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver training programs to educate product teams on financial risk management, safeguarding principles, and compliance requirements, as well as internal systems usage.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and emerging risks related to safeguarding and financial risk management, as well as internal systems technology.

Cross-Functional Collaboration :

• Work closely with Product, Data, Financial Controlling, Legal, Compliance, and Network teams to ensure a holistic approach to financial risk management, safeguarding, and internal system development.
• Collaborate to optimize cash flows, margins, and data management systems while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding and efficient internal processes.
• Define and oversee the structure and fund flows for holding customer money under local regulations, ensuring compliance and safeguarding, while also optimizing internal systems for these processes.

We would love to get to know you if you have the following :

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CTP, CFA, PMP) is a plus.
• Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience, including significant time spent in both Finance / Treasury and Product Management roles. Experience in the payment services or fintech industry is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial concepts, risk management principles, and regulatory requirements related to safeguarding customer funds.
• Proven ability to translate financial requirements into product specifications and drive product development from a finance perspective.
• Experience as a product owner for internal systems development or upgrades, particularly in the context of finance or treasury management software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between finance and product teams, and articulate complex financial and product concepts clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess financial risks and drive product improvements.
• Passion for technology and startups, with a focus on building robust financial risk management, safeguarding, and internal systems frameworks.
• Proficiency in treasury management systems and financial risk management software, as well as experience with system implementation and management.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in financial risk management, safeguarding, and internal systems.
