Product Development Technician II

Product Development

The Product Development Technician is responsible for developing and executing new product constructions and composite test plans. The Product Development Technician works within an AS9100 continuous improvement quality culture.

What you'll be doing as a Product Development Technician:

  1. Evaluating new products and raw materials daily.
  2. Developing and documenting new process conditions, test results, and other data.
  3. Maintaining a safe, clean work area with FOD free objective.
  4. Assisting with controlling raw material and consumables inventories.
  5. Surveilling processes and work environment for operational, safety, regulations along with policies, and procedures.
  6. Demonstrating working knowledge of sound experimental design practices.
  7. Continuously improving new process and product variation.
  8. Assisting in creating new products of various composites, textiles, coatings, foams, and additive manufacturing technologies.
  9. Conducting Quality & Safety audits and inspections; Executing trial plans; Developing and documenting SOP's and WI's.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs., and to team lift up to 50 lbs.
  2. Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, squatting, sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs, ladders and work stands.
  3. Ability to stand for extended periods during the entire duration of shift.
  4. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  5. Flexibility to bend, stoop, and crouch as required for tasks.
  6. Good vision, including the ability to focus on small details and identify defects.

Skills You Bring To this Role

  1. Proficiency in developing and executing design of experiments and sample test plans.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Effective team player, with good critical thinking skills.
  4. Working knowledge of materials processing and testing equipment.
  5. General working knowledge of Military and ASTM Specification preferred.
  6. Previous experience in QMS environment preferred.

What you need to be successful

  1. 2 years of relevant experience working in a laboratory environment required.
  2. High School Diploma/GED required; Degree or Technical certificate for related field from an accredited institution preferred.
  3. Familiar with Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding progress and potential issues.
  5. Willingness to follow instructions and ask for clarification when needed.
