Job summary

Safepoint MGA, LLC seeks a Product Development Technician to identify, design, and roll out insurance products across multiple states. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver fast time-to-market and support rate filings with actuaries.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least 3 years in insurance, with strong analytical and communication skills to review state laws and filing processes. Health and 401(k) benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of property and casualty insurance.
  • Experience filing with state Departments of Insurance preferred.
  • Proficiency in program development and product filing across states.

Responsibilities

  • Review and identify quality programs in Personal lines markets and perform competitor analysis.
  • Develop manuals and forms for filing as required by state.
  • Research state laws and amend forms for compliance.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and legislators.
  • Maintain insurance rates and premium calculations.
  • Drive product launches with marketing, underwriting, and customer service teams.
  • Complete ad hoc analytical projects and metrics reporting.

Job description

As a Product Development Technician, you will identify, design, build, and roll-out insurance products, in multiple states, that deliver the company’s vision and strategy. You will be working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Review and identify quality programs that exist in the Personal lines markets and perform competitor analysis
  • Develop manuals and forms for filing as required by state
  • Regularly research applicable state laws, bulletins, and statutes to review and amend forms for legislative compliance
  • Maintain professional relationships and communication with external vendors and legislators
  • Maintain insurance rates and premium calculations
  • Identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share
  • Make filings using SERFF/IFile and shepherd through process
  • Work with management and actuaries on interrogatories and assist with rate filings
  • Work closely with teams to deliver with quick time-to-market
  • Drive product launches by working with marketing team, executives, underwriting, and customer service team members
  • Participates in business process management efforts to collect and analyze metrics and continually improve processes
  • Participates in root cause analysis to recommend product or service enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for both the business units and third-party software vendors
  • Complete ad hoc analytical projects as assigned which may include statistical reporting or agency management requests
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of property and casualty insurance required
  • Previous experience working with state Departments of Insurance strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in program development and product filing in multiples states for Personal Lines
  • Previous underwriting experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, detailed analytical skills, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, data & business process modeling, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Minimum 50 WPM typing speed
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong system organizational skills
Essential Functions
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to think critically, observe data, draw conclusions, and assess risk using various computer systems
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM
  • Ability to generate and effectively communicate new ideas and products
  • Ability to maintain organizational file structures
