Job summary

Olin seeks a Product Development Technician to assist engineers in designing, testing, and producing experimental orders. You will work on hands-on mechanical tasks and data collection, supporting the full R&D and manufacturing process in a collaborative environment.

The role offers exposure to development and production, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and cost reductions. On-site work with possible shift variance is required.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings and troubleshoot issues.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% and support occasional second/third shift.

Responsibilities

  • Support experimental and prototype product builds by coordinating manufacturing operations, monitoring progress, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Perform data collection related to product development (dimensional data, visual non-conformities, and ballistics).
  • Monitor, execute, troubleshoot, and report on new product introductions from development to end production; provide status updates to Development Engineer and Operations as necessary.
  • Support successful special sample builds of Military and Law Enforcement task orders and solicitations; ensure engineering specifications, testing, and quality standards are met throughout specialty builds to conclude component preparation to final pack configuration.
  • Conduct product attribute checks, elevate manufacturing or quality concerns, and collaborate with engineers, operations, and vendors as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that offer innovation, lean practices, and/or cost reductions.

Focus: As a Product Development Technician, you will work under the guidance of engineers to assist in the design, development, testing, and production of experimental orders. This role requires a mix of hands‑on mechanical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and technical knowledge. This role offers broad exposure across the full R&D and manufacturing process, high visibility with leadership, and the chance to work on exciting new and innovative product developments in a collaborative, hands‑on environment.

Product Development Technician Essential Job Functions:
  • Support experimental and prototype product builds by coordinating manufacturing operations, monitoring progress, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

Product Development Technician Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor's Degree* preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing; Experience with high volume, small parts, or ballistics is preferred.
  • Self‑starter with ability to work minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret CAD drawings; Direct CAD design skills are a plus.
  • Proven problem‑solving experience dealing with product manufacturing and processing issues.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 5%
  • Ability to support 24/5 operations as needed.Must be able to support occasional second‑shift or swing‑shift coverage based on development and production needs
Location‑Specific Requirements:
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
