Job summary

EnVogue International is seeking a Product Development Manager to lead the development and merchandising of Rugs or Bedding, from concept to production. You will manage costing, quality, and execution while building strong assortments for major retailers.

The role requires 5+ years in product development or related fields in home decor, with experience in rugs or bedding preferred. You’ll collaborate across Design, Production, Sourcing, and Sales to bring innovative products to market.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, or related within home décor/textiles/consumer products
  • Experience with rugs, bedding, or soft home products preferred
  • Strong merchandising skills: color, pattern, material, product mix, price point
  • Proven ability to build commercially relevant assortments and identify opportunities
  • Understanding of the product development lifecycle: sampling, specs, costing, approvals, production
  • Experience with international factories, vendors, and suppliers
  • Strong understanding of costing, margins, quality, and retailer requirements
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with Illustrator/Photoshop is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development from concept through final production.
  • Merchandise assortments across color, pattern, material, construction, product mix, price point.
  • Research market trends, retailer assortments, materials, and techniques to identify opportunities.
  • Identify assortment gaps and develop concepts based on retailer needs and market opportunities.
  • Manage development with international factories and vendors, including sampling, color and artwork approvals.
  • Review samples and provide direction on quality, construction, color, materials, measurements, and product execution.
  • Oversee specifications, tech packs, BOMs, packaging, and development docs.
  • Lead assortment prep for line reviews and buyer presentations with cohesive stories.
  • Collaborate on costing, margins, and value engineering while maintaining design intent.
  • Manage development calendars, approvals, testing, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with Design, Production, Sourcing, and Sales to bring products to market.

About the Role

As a Product Development Manager, you will lead the development and merchandising of Rugs or Bedding, from initial concept through production. This role combines product development, merchandising, and trend awareness to create commercially relevant assortments for major retailers while managing costing, quality, and execution.

What You'll Do
  • Lead product development from initial concept and sampling through final production.
  • Build and merchandise assortments across color, pattern, material, construction, product mix, and price point.
  • Research market trends, competitive products, retailer assortments, materials, and emerging techniques to identify new product opportunities.
  • Identify assortment gaps and develop new concepts based on retailer needs, trends, and market opportunities.
  • Manage development with international factories and vendors, including sampling, material sourcing, color and artwork approvals, and product refinement.
  • Review samples and provide direction on quality, construction, color, materials, measurements, and overall product execution.
  • Oversee product specifications, tech packs, BOMs, packaging details, and development documentation.
  • Lead assortment preparation for line reviews and buyer presentations, ensuring cohesive and commercially relevant product stories.
  • Partner with Design and Production on costing, target margins, and value engineering while maintaining quality and design intent.
  • Manage development calendars, approvals, testing, and timelines to keep projects on track.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Production, Sourcing, and Sales to successfully bring products to market.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, or a related function within home décor, home textiles, or consumer products.
  • Experience with rugs, bedding, home textiles, or related soft home products strongly preferred.
  • Strong merchandising skills with an eye for color, pattern, material, product mix, and price point.
  • Proven ability to build commercially relevant assortments and identify new product opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, including sampling, specifications, costing, approvals, and production.
  • Experience working directly with international factories, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of costing, margins, quality, and retailer requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is a plus.
